Day 4: The Fourth Man in the Fire Reading: Daniel 3:19-27; Isaiah 43:2; Matthew 28:20

Devotional: Nebuchadnezzar threw three men into the furnace, but he counted four walking inside it. The fourth, he said, looked like the Son of God. This is one of the most breathtaking pictures in all of Scripture -- Christ present in the very place of suffering, not watching from a safe distance but walking alongside His people in the heat. Notice what the fire destroyed: only the ropes that had them bound. The flames consumed their chains and left everything else untouched. God does not always remove the furnace. But He always enters it with you, and He brings freedom with Him.

Reflection: In your current trial, can you sense the presence of God with you in it? Ask Him today to make His nearness real to you, and look for what He may be burning away.

Day 3: Our God Is Able -- But If Not Reading: Daniel 3:16-18; Isaiah 43:1-3; Romans 8:28

Devotional: The three young men declared two things in the same breath: God is able to deliver, and if He does not deliver in the way we expect, we will still not bow. This is mature faith. It does not demand that God perform on a set schedule or follow a script we have written. It rests in the unchanging character of God -- His power, His faithfulness, His goodness -- regardless of the outcome. The "but if not" is not a confession of doubt. It is a declaration of trust deeper than any single answer to prayer. God is good all the time.

Reflection: Have you ever been disappointed by an unanswered prayer? How does the "but if not" posture of these three men challenge or encourage your own faith in that situation?

The convictions we form in quiet seasons of Scripture and prayer become the backbone we stand on when the music plays and the crowd falls. Build your convictions now, before the furnace is heated.

Day 1: The God Who Calls You His Jewel Reading: Malachi 3:17; 1 Peter 1:6-7

Devotional: You are not an accident. You are not overlooked. God declares that His people are His jewels -- treasured, valued, and carefully handled. Just as a master diamond cutter studies a gem for years before making a single cut, God knows every facet of your life before He allows pressure to touch you. The trials you face are not signs of His absence but evidence of His investment. He is shaping something in you that will one day reflect His glory. Yield to the process. The pressure you feel today is forming something beautiful for eternity.

Reflection: In what area of your life do you sense God applying pressure? Can you trust that His purpose in it is to reveal something precious?

What happens when your faith is thrown into the fire?

As we continue our journey through Pastor Wood’s series, The Greatness of God’s Kingdom, this Sunday’s message from Daniel 3 reminded us of three young men who refused to bow—even under the threat of a furnace heated seven times over.

Their courage was rooted not in certainty about the outcome, but in the character of God.

“Our God is able to deliver us… but if not…”

That is unshakeable faith.
