Lord have mercy.
As the sun rises on June 17, we lift our eyes to the hills, from whence our help comes.
We pray:
Lord, you are good. You are faithful. We ask that you would grant us the clarity we need to name the policies and systems which breed racial hatred. Then, fortify us with your holy love to work tirelessly for your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Remind us we are freed from sin, freed for love of neighbor, every last neighbor. Then, nudge us out of our comfort zones and places of privilege; show us the way. We trust you are the way, and we ask you to reignite again and again our zeal for justice, to embody anti-racism. We pray all this in the name of Jesus, the way, truth, and life, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
While all nine victims are to be remembered, we at LTSS especially remember two alumni, Pr. Clementa Pickney and Pr. Daniel Simmons.

We hope you will read the article at this link about the ELCA's Day of Commemoration on June 17. Today is the inaugural commemoration, as it was established in August of 2019.

There are many ways to engage in confession, prayer, and action to work for racial justice. We invite you to do so in the memory and honor of the Emanuel 9.
