It shows us courage under pressure, devotion that does not calculate the cost, and grace that remembers people by name. For believers, this passage asks whether we are serving King Jesus with steadfast hearts. For seekers, it raises a deeper question: What kind of king is worthy of such loyalty, and could there be a place in his kingdom for someone like me?

In this passage, the Spirit gives us David’s “last words,” not merely as sentimental reflections, but as a prophetic testimony. In these closing words, he points us beyond himself to the kind of King that we desperately need. If we listen carefully, these final words don’t simply tell us how David died; they tell us where hope is found for everyone who must one day face death as well.

Happy Mother's Day! Mothers shape lives in more ways than they realize—often in the ordinary moments no one applauds. Mother’s Day can be a beautiful celebration—and it can also be complicated. In 1 Samuel 1, God gives us a true story that holds all those emotions together. We meet Hannah—loved by her husband, wounded by her circumstances, provoked by her rival, and yet honest before God. Her story teaches us how to believe God and how to trust Him when the desire of our hearts feels delayed or denied.
