Wake Forest Baptist Church Community Connections Garden The purpose of the WFBC Community Connections Garden is to not only provide fresh, local produce to the hungry, but to connect members of the community.

Our mission is to connect people to their neighbors, the land, and God by using sustainable agriculture to provide fresh, local food for the hungry. After some Wake Forest Baptist Church

members volunteered at the Goodwill Community Foundation Farm Center in 2012, the idea was started to create a similar program here in Wake Forest. The GCF Farm Center has donated over 20,000 pounds of fresh produce to the community. We would like to do the same thing here in our community by connecting with each other and God by growing for the hungry. We feel that this would be a great mission for our community. After much prayer, we are now moving forward with the WFBC Community Connections Garden. One goal of this community garden that sets us apart from similar programs is "connecting people in the community." While one of our goals is to donate food to the hungry, our primary goal is to connect people from all over the community with each other and God. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be a part of this mission, not just members of the church. Over 50% of each harvest will be donated to local food banks. The remainder will be shared by Garden members who have registered, paid the annual fee, and have worked ten hours or more in the garden. The remainder may also be provided for church or garden club use.
