Staffing shortages continue to compromise NC-DAC's ability to properly care for incarcerated people including meeting requirements to allow people of faith to worship and access religious programs like Yokefellow Prison Ministry. Continue to pray for doors to open and for these staffing shortages to be alleviated.

There's a 42% vacancy rate for correctional officers.

Important developments in the provisions for NC's correctional facilities. Continue to keep our national and state leaders in prayer as they seek to lead our correctional institutions. Also pray for correctional officers, chaplains, other staff people and, most importantly, those incarcerated in these facilities.

Governors' budgets are mere suggestions, but here are Cooper's priorities for the Department of Adult Correction as laid out in his budget.

Continue to be in prayer for our correctional facilities. This shortage of staff has the potential to drastically impact rates of recidivism as opportunities are missed to intervene in the lives of young people and to stop them from becoming incarcerated adults. Pray for staff who is stretched thin and for guidance and wisdom for those in leadership to find a path forward.

The Durham County Commissioners are recommending a pay increse to incentivise the positions to be filled.
