The Local Food Pantry Needs Your Help!

For many families, three months of summer break means losing the guaranteed school breakfasts and lunches their kids count on. Let's team up to keep the food bank stocked through the end of August. We are urgently collecting:

Peanut butter and jelly
Fruits cups
Apple sauce
Granola/breakfast bars
Cold cereal
Canned tuna/chicken
Crackers
Pasta
Juice

Please leave your donations in the rolling carts in the Narthex, and parishioner Eleas Ottley will take them every Wednesday to Tri-Area Ministry (TAM).

Wake Forest Community Table (WFCT) and Wake Forest Community Garden

WAKE FOREST COMMUNITY TABLE is in need of volunteers to help with our Monday and Wednesday evening meals. There are many ways to be involved: St. John’s has historically supported Wake Forest Community Table with a core group of bakers who have provided desserts for Monday nights. These treats are greatly appreciated by our community members!

We are now serving 170 meals, on average, each Monday evening, and we need more bakers! We ask for individually packaged cookies, brownies, or muffins. They can be dropped off at church on Sundays (please be sure to label them with WFCT), and we will be happy to pick them up and distribute them on Monday.

Here at St. John’s Episcopal Church welcomes musicians of all ages and abilities. Over the 5+ past years, this ministry has intentionally been an INTERGENERATIONAL program offering and this fall, you/your friends/family/neighbors are invited to take an active role in worship through ringing, singing and/or dusting off that instrument that’s been stowed in the closet, and join in becoming part of this JOYFUL NOISE!

The Bells of St. John’s Handbell & Choir Chime Choir: No experience is needed to ring/chime with this group which meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. beginning September 8th.

The Jubilation Woodwind Ensemble: If you play/have played a woodwind instrument, this is the group for you! Flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, English horns, saxophones...ALL are welcome. Rehearsals are scheduled by group consensus.

The Cantate Vocal Choir: Enjoy singing (and singing a lot)? Come join in with a dedicated community of musicians (they never took any summer break this year and have been offering an anthem weekly at worship—thank you, choir!). Cantate meets weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning September 10th .

Questions? Seeking more fascinating insight into the Music Ministry of this parish? Contact Karole Badgley, Director of Music Ministry at [email protected] or call 919-556-3656. Cannot wait to see and hear YOU ringing/singing/making that JOYFUL NOISE!

Women’s Retreat - A FEW SPOTS STILL OPEN!

September 18-20 @ Trinity Center

The women’s retreat is right around the corner! Good news...we now have 7 spots available! The retreat is open to everyone, including non-parishioners (please bring your friends!). This will be a wonderful weekend of deep thoughts, healing, and much fun.

Our theme this year is Welcoming Reconciliation into our Relationships. This retreat will be led by Rev. Dr. Jennifer Copeland, former Executive Director of the NC Council of Churches. Among her several accomplishments, Jennifer has taught at Duke University in Religious Studies and women’s presence in religion. Her graduate work focused on progressive feminist theory, giving her a deep and passionate understanding of how women have shaped—and continue to shape—the world. Jennifer will explore some topics that will resonate deeply with many of us. We will be exploring healing, reconciliation, and forgiveness.

When: 9/18/2026 - 9/20/2026

Where: Trinity Center, 618 Salter Path Road, Pine Knoll Shores, NC

Cost: We have ONE single room that has just become available at $380. A double occupancy room is $290 per person. This price includes accommodations, all sessions, and meals.

Deposit: To reserve your spot, a $100 deposit is due upon registration, and the balance is due by August 31.

Scholarship: If you are in need of a bit of financial assistance in order to attend, or if you would like to donate towards our scholarship fund to support someone without the financial means, please contact Carmen Hopkinson [email protected].

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY, 6:30 PM ON ZOOM

Each Wednesday we gather on Zoom to pray, listen deeply to Scripture, and reflect together on how God’s Word shapes our lives. Whether you’ve been with us every week or are joining us for the first time, you are warmly invited. Each session stands on its own, so it’s never too late to join the conversation.

This week we will be dwelling in James 4:1-12 as we explore the theme, Humility & Peace.
