Belize Update:
Concrete… lots and lots of concrete. The team spent the last couple of days mixing batch after batch while making great progress on the building. Another column was poured, several more footers were completed, rock piles were moved, and more holes were dug for the corner columns. The ladies finished three additional rebar columns and tied all the wire supports for them. The team also knocked out half of one of the end walls where the stairway to the future second level will eventually go. We’ve all worked so hard from morning until just before dark, finishing the final batch of concrete as the sun went down. It was an incredibly productive stretch of work.
One evening the team joined the church for their weekly prayer service upstairs in the building. The way the Belizean brothers and sisters prayed for the team was incredibly humbling and such a blessing. Getting to pray for them in return was an honor.
After one service the team walked across the dirt road to celebrate Julianne’s birthday. A special meal of Black Relleno soup was served, a dish traditionally made only for weddings or special celebrations. One of the guys was the lucky one who found the chicken foot in his bowl. It was a real honor for them to prepare that meal for the entire team. During the evening, Sister Miriam (Julianne’s grandmother) shared her powerful testimony of how the Lord miraculously healed her from breast cancer after doctors had told her she only had a short time to live. Her faith was incredible.
Our team also had the privilege to visit the school, and Joy said she’ll never be the same after seeing it.
Forever grateful for the work, the people, the faith, and the memories being made here in Belize.
