We’re heading back to Tanzania. 🌍🇹🇿

Next week, the AFAC team will return to Tanzania to spend time at Lawrence Academy, visit our church communities and current projects, and sit down with our local partners as we begin looking toward 2027.

And this September, there’s something else on our minds.

The 2023 El Niño season brought severe rainfall, destructive flash floods and landslides to Tanzania. With the heavy rains approaching again, we want to protect as much of the progress already made in Kiromo as we can.

At the Kiromo Medical Clinic and Kiromo Church, the walls are standing and the roofs are on. Our priority now is getting windows and doors in place before the heavy October rains arrive.

That means raising $11,250 by September 30 - $7,400 for the clinic and $3,850 for the church.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll take you with us. And soon, instead of sharing these buildings with you from thousands of miles away, we’ll be standing inside them ourselves.

In 2019, Lawrence Academy began with eight preschool students.

Today, more than 200 students learn there.

Looking at these two photographs side by side, one from the early days and one much more recent, is a pretty remarkable reminder of what can grow from a small beginning.

And next week, we’re going back.

From September 15–26, we’ll spend time at Lawrence Academy, visit our church communities and current projects, and meet with our local partners as we begin looking toward 2027.

Because long-term partnership isn’t simply about what gets built.

It’s about what happens after.

We’ll be sharing updates from Tanzania throughout the trip, and we’d love for you to come with us.

Two buildings are taking shape in Kiromo, Tanzania.

One will become a medical clinic serving children and families in the surrounding community. The other will become a permanent home for a growing local church.

And September is an important month for both.

The walls and roofs are already in place, but the buildings still need their windows and doors. With the heavy October rains approaching, getting them enclosed will help protect the construction that's already been completed and keep the projects moving forward.

Our immediate September goal is $11,250 for windows and doors:

$7,400: Kiromo Medical Clinic
$3,850: Kiromo Church

Later this month, our AFAC team will be in Tanzania. We'll visit both projects ourselves and show you what you're helping build.

A classroom can be the beginning of something much bigger. 📚

This is what education looks like on the ground: children learning together, supported by teachers, and building a foundation for the future.

Through our partnerships in Tanzania, AFAC helps support children with education, nutritious food, school supplies, transportation, and the resources they need to keep learning and growing.

Education is not only about being in a classroom. It is about opportunity, confidence, and a stronger future for children and their communities.

We're 60% of the way to crossing the finish line of our 3 year-ending goals!

Students will be returning to school in the new year and a new bus would mean a huge upgrade for their daily journeys. A larger bus is also an opportunity to bring even more vulnerable children to spend their days in a safe and healthy academic environment!
