Dear Parishioners,

I hope you are doing well and preparing for the storm heading our way. The Office of Worship came out this evening with the attached memo which states:

The Governor declared a state of emergency for Hawai‘i ahead of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Lala, so travel may be imprudent. Traveling for Mass could be unsafe or prohibited, placing one’s life and the lives of others at risk. Bishop Michael T. T. Castori, SJ, has granted a dispensation for all those affected, so the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday, August 16, 2026, is not in force.

Please use your prudent judgement to decide whether it's safe or not to come to Mass this weekend. If the roads are open and it's not raining too bad / no wind, and you feel it's safe to come to Mass, please do. Fr. Taylor and I live right next door to Church and as of now, we will have Masses this weekend at the regular times: Saturday 7am, Saturday 5pm, Sunday 7am, 9:30am and 5pm.

The attached memo has some beautiful prayers we can all say together. Count on my prayers for all of you.

Stay safe,
Fr. Larry
Pastor
