Does Salvation Through Faith Grant Entrance to God’s Kingdom?
Before discussing this issue, we should understand what kind of people can enter the kingdom of heaven. God said, “Not every one that said to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). “You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy” (Leviticus 11:45). God’s words clearly tell us that only by obeying God’s will, escaping sin, and being cleansed of corruption can we enter the kingdom of heaven—this is the only criterion. So do we who are saved by faith meet this standard?
As believers in the Lord, we can see the fact: Although we are forgiven of sin and justified by faith, we still often sin involuntarily. We tell lies to cheat others, get jealous of others, are self-righteous and arrogant, and lust after the world and shun God. We haven’t been freed from the bo***ge of sin and we often fail to put the Lord’s words into practice, so we are not people who do God’s will. Does God really allow such people who sin and resist Him to enter the kingdom of heaven? Certainly not. So how can we be cleansed of sin?
