Today is Epiphany. I followed these little Wandering Wisemen guys for several years...they're sort of an Elf on the Shelf only each day chronicled a humorous adventure on the journey of the Magi as they followed the star.
We actually celebrated Epiphany this past Sunday.
Part of my reflection talked about how mismatched the gifts of the Magi were for a peasant baby. They were however perfect gifts for an infant king. Jesus did not look like an infant king, but the Magi knew because they had a light to show them.
Epiphany is a season of light. It's a time when light, either physical or metaphorical, shows us things we might not otherwise see.
What is your guiding light? Where do we need the light to shine? Where can we shine light?
Day 38 – “And, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, til it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.”
