!! Due to forecasted extreme cold weather, our warming station will be open beginning Tuesday (2/18/25) morning at 8am through Saturday morning. !!

The warming shelter will open Tuesday (2/18/25) morning at 8am through Saturday morning for those needing warm respite. We want to remind the community that it is not only for unhoused individuals, as some homes are not equipped for the dangerous cold ahead. Anyone in need may come by for a meal, to stay overnight, or just to warm up for a short time. All are welcome.

Donations needed: snacks, paper plates and bowls, plastic forks, paper towels, toilet paper, water, ground coffee, powdered creamer, sugar, styrofoam cups, and trash bags. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

St James thanks our community for all the support. We are in this together, and we can’t do it alone. 💜💜

Starting July 10th, 2024 @ 6:30PM, our St. James Wednesday evening fellowship group will be changing things up a bit! On that date, we’ll be starting a new small group series called Centered. Centered is a discipleship series guiding small, gathered communities like ours to get deeply rooted in love with God and one another through fellowship, teaching, and a meal, so that we grow to look, act, and love more like Jesus.

The Centered series includes nine core sessions during which church members, neighbors, and friends gather to share a meal and grateful prayer; view two short films, discuss questions about God, belonging, and living a meaningful life; and support each other in committing to intentionally follow Jesus and his Way of Love.

The themes of the nine sessions are:
Meeting Jesus and Each Other
Meeting Jesus and Sharing Life in Small Groups
Following Jesus as a Way of Life
Loving God Like Jesus
Loving Neighbors & Strangers like Jesus
Loving Other Disciples like Jesus
Loving Ourselves like Jesus
Creating a Sustainable Rule of Life
Looking, Acting and Loving Like Jesus…Together

We’ll meet at 6:30PM each Wednesday evening and will share a potluck style meal together as a group. We'll watch a couple of short videos that reflect the theme of the session, then we’ll have a time of sharing with each other, to learn from each other, and grow together as a group. After we dismiss as a group, we’ll do a “going deeper” session. The “going deeper” session will give group participants an opportunity to ask hard questions, or maybe sensitive questions that they may not feel comfortable asking in the regular group session time.

This group is open to ANYONE, wherever they might be on their faith journey! That said, we invite you to invite others to participate in this small group, as we continue our journey, going even deeper in the Way of Love & becoming Centered on Jesus.

This evening I'm preparing a lesson for tomorrow's fellowship and bible study tomorrow evening at St James Episcopal Church (Wagoner, OK). While doing so, I ran onto this statistic, and it doesn't even seem possible in my head, I just cant even wrap my mind around a number like this:

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), 828 million people, or 10% of the world's population, go to bed hungry each night. This is 46 million more than the previous year. The World Food Programme (WFP) estimates that nearly 47 million people in over 50 countries are just one step from famine.

Let that sink in for a minute...... and never complain about what you've been blessed with again. Especially if you're not numbered among those 828 million human beings that feel the pangs of hunger in their gut when they lay down to rest tonight....

This wednesday join us at 6:30PM for our Way of Love fellowship and study group at St. james Episcopal Church! We are located at 303 East Church St. in Wagoner. The St. James congregation is an LGBTQ+ affirming an welcoming congregation, and we are welcoming to all people, no matter where you are in the journey of life!

For the past two sessions in our Wednesday evening group, we have been talking about how the love of God was and is revealed to humanity in the life and ways of Jesus. This Wednesday, join us as we continue the discussion and take a closer look at how we can live a more Jesus centered life, and put the ways and teachings of Jesus to practice in our own daily lives.
