March 29 - April 4

Psalm 111 Read this week Pray through using this pattern
Upward Praise God for who God is!
Downward Pray that He brings about His Kingdom on earth / For Bethany as God uses this church for His Work in Wadsworth / Medina / Surrounding areas
Outward Pray for others: Family/Friends/Neighbors/Community / Health / Concerns / Pray for those who are sick and/or vulnerable
Inward Pray for yourself: Needs/ concerns/ growth in Jesus Christ

John 4: 1-37
The Samaritan woman story in the book of John
Jesus decided to walk through Samaria and “Good Jews don’t go through there.”
He stops to get some water.
As you ponder this passage Jesus broke all kinds of rules here by talking to her:
1. Talks to a woman ( Gender)
2. Talks to a Samaritan ( Racial)
3. Talks to a Non-Jewish person about theology, “Do we worship on this mountain or Jerusalem?” (Theological)
4. Talks to a sinner (5 husbands and the one you have now is not your husband) (Moral)

What are some questions/answers that Jesus asked/gave this woman? Here are some:
What is this living water? / How does it well up to eternal life?
What does it mean to worship in Spirit and Truth?
What does it mean to you that the woman leaves behind her water jar?
Then the woman says to people in the city, “Is this the Christ?”
What do you think he means when Jesus says, “I have food you know nothing about?”
As we journey through this pandemic together, Becky and I continue to pray for you and ask that Jesus is close to you during this time. We were sent this meditation by a good friend. We thought it might be meaningful to you as well.

When this is over,
may we never again
take for granted:
A handshake with a stranger
Full shelves at the store
Conversations with neighbors
A crowded theatre
Friday night out
The taste of communion
A routine check-up
The school rush each morning
Coffee with a friend
The stadium roaring
Each deep breath
A boring Tuesday
Life itself.

When this ends:
may we find that we have become
more like the people we wanted to be
we were called to be
we hoped to be
and may we stay
that way – better
for each other
because of the worst.

Why did Jesus have to come?
Week One of Four

Theme: We were “lost.”
Scripture reading: Luke 15: 11- 32 Prodigal Son/ Lost from Dad / Lost from Brother / Lost from His faith

Reflect on times in your life when You might have been lost /geographically or spiritually. This might have started with some kind of a rebellion/ wanting some independence from God or others / wasting of time/ money / or resources. Have you personally known a desperate need because of an event or condition in your life? Even to the point of bo***ge?

How has Jesus entered into your lostness?
Or have you worked hard to keep Him at a distance?
What do you need to surrender to allow Jesus to draw near to you?
What difference has being found by Jesus made in your life?

Please know that we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers weekly. We look forward to perhaps the healing of our nation, and our world, as we face a common enemy. Who knows what good may come from a focus on prayer for one another? Count your blessings!
