Obituary for Brenda Cockrell Hendrix
Benefield Funeral Home Lineville AL
Funeral Services for Brenda Cockrell Hendrix, 76, of Lineville will be Friday, April 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Springhill Christian Church, 2744 Blakes Ferry Road, Lineville. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Hendrix passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at her home. Brenda Hendrix was born on April 9, 1948 in Lineville, Alabama, the third of five daughters born to Braxton and Mary Cockrell. Brenda attended Lineville High School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1966. She met Theron Hendrix during high school, and they went on to marry, raise a son, and spend almost 60 years together as husband and wife. Brenda worked for over 40 years at Higgins Manufacturing, beginning in production and then spending most of her career working in the office as bookkeeper and receptionist. Throughout her life, Brenda was a devoted member of Springhill Christian Church where she led the singing and served faithfully in every way imaginable. Brenda loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved to sing. She was full of love, joy, and peace, and wanted to provide all three to everyone around her. She was the rock and center of a large extended family and loved each one fiercely and unconditionally. Where there was want, she gave until there was plenty. Where there was joy, she laughed and sang in celebration. Where there was pain and sadness, she loved, comforted, and walked alongside until there was peace. Music and song were part of her very self, and you could hear her beautiful, clear voice singing most any time of any day. She reminded all around her, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of how very glad she was that they were born, and that God had made them just right and loved them even more than she could. She is cherished and missed as wife, mother, sister, aunt, Gramma, and friend by all of us, and we are grateful and thankful to have had her in our lives. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Braxton and Mary Cockrell, and two sisters, Baby Cockrell and Shirlie Hendrix (Marston). Brenda is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Theron Hendrix; son: Dean Hendrix (Kristi); four grandchildren: Ashley Jenkins (James), Jonathan Hendrix (Mallory), Katherine Schwarzauer, Konnor Schwarzauer; five great-grandchildren: Persephone Jenkins, Aurora Jenkins, Braxton Hendrix, Daltyn Hendrix, and Kinsley McCain; two sisters: Rosemary Hill (Terry) and Patricia Dennison (Billy); and two nieces: Tina Snow and Amy Spratlin (Sawyer). Active Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hendrix, Konnor Schwarzauer, Billy Dennison, Sawyer Spratlin, Carlton DeVaughn, and Billy Todd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Hill and the pastors of the Southern Conference of Independent Christian Churches. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brenda Hendrix Christian Music Memorial at Springhill Christian Church, a goal of which is to preserve traditional gospel music and its message. Donations may be made at FirstState Bank, P.O. Box 547, Lineville, AL 36266.
