Central Christian Church-Waco

Central Christian Church-Waco Our Vision: An authentic, relevant family of faith sharing life and love in the name of Jesus Christ. It leads and undergirds everything we do.

VALUES

Intergenerational mission and ministry (Luke 1:50; Psalm 78:4) - Children, teens and adults of all ages share all aspects of church life, including worship. We take seriously the recurring Scriptural mandate to pass on the faith to the next generation.

(3 John 1:14) - We strive to be the kind of church where "everyone knows your name." While we do break up into small groups

from time to time, we find deep community in the entire Body of Christ. Our fellowship with one another reminds us of how wide, long, high and deep the love of Christ is. Knowing, serving, following, worshipping and believing in Jesus Christ (John 3:1-21; Matthew 25:31-46; Romans 10:8-15) - "If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old is gone and the new has come,"(I Corinthians 5:17) but discipleship (following Christ) is much more than a conversion experience. It is surrendering one's life and one's will to "take up the cross" and follow Christ. Faith is very important, but Christ's followers are revealed by the fruit they bear (Matthew 7;16) and the lives they live (Romans 12:1-2). This holistic approach to discipleship is what it means to be "born again." Praying, praying and praying some more (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 4:6-7) - Prayer is not a bookend at CCC. Everything.

(Romans 8: 31; Mark 16:15) For too long, the church has been known for what we're against. We should be known for what we are for. And we are for Waco. We are for our community, and for lifting up our community. We are for them, because God is for them.

Day 1 of the CCC Mission Trip to Kerrville

Yesterday we took a driving tour of the Guadalupe River corridor between Kerrville and Hunt, where most of the damage occurred on July 4, 2025. Included in the tour was the River Inn, where Brian officiated his mother's wedding (Jana and Johnnie Sikes) in 2014. The River Inn was completely wiped out, but they are determined to rebuild, and have already repaired their dam.

This morning we began with a devotional about our "whys." We were reminded of Jesus' why ... why he became human ... to "proclaim ... good news ... and the year of the Lord's favor (Luke 4:18-19)." We prayed our service would be part of God's good news for the Texas Hill Country.

We then took part in two projects ... We helped clear debris and brush around a well house for Jack and Jennifer Hudson, who lost their home AND their business in the flood, and held on to a pole to keep from being swept away in the water. Then, in the afternoon, we sanded a ceiling for another homeowner in Hunt.

Thank you for praying, praying and praying some more for the trip. We feel it!

The Gospel According to Isaiah: The Face of Jesus - Brian Coats, Senior Pastor

Isaiah 53:1-6
Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
