Union Campground extends our sincere condolences to Bryant, Bill, and the entire Hightower family on the passing of their patriarch, Richard Hightower. We praise God that faith has become sight for him, and we rejoice in his heavenly reward. Richard was a longtime member of our board of trustees and was dedicated to serving the Lord and our mission of “Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ”. Richard had a deep connection to the campground. His great grandfather donated land for the campground and church to be founded in the 1870’s. Richard brought a calm and thoughtful demeanor to our board meetings, and everyone listened when he spoke. He was very active as a board member. He participated in projects, he shared ideas and vision, and he supported our ministry faithfully. For years, Richard made sure that our arbor was decorated with flowers and ferns for our annual camp meeting. He would get the plants, deliver them before the first service, and would pick them up at the end. His attention to detail made the arbor look extra special each year. Richard never stopped serving the campground. Even this year, as his health was getting worse, he picked up and delivered chicken plates for our annual chicken-que fundraiser. We are grateful to Richard Hightower, a true servant of the Lord. His years of service to Union Campground will long be remembered. We will be forever grateful for him.
