We are excited to welcome Jenna Hernandez McLean as alto soloist for the two Bach works. Jenna is a music educator, conductor, and mezzo-soprano based in Waco, Texas. She has taught public school and community choirs in Texas and Oregon and has served as both a Teaching Artist and Coordinator with the VOCES8 Foundation. While teaching in Oregon, her choirs were selected to perform at the 2018 NAfME Regional Conference. She currently serves as Director of Choral Activities at McLennan Community College and Co-Director of the Youth Chorus of Central Texas.
In addition to her work as an educator and conductor, Jenna maintains an active performance schedule with professional choral ensembles across the United States, including the Grammy Award winning ensemble The Crossing, The Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Ensemble Altera, Orpheus Chamber Singers, Verdigris Ensemble, and Aeternum. She also recorded Cycles of Eternity: Works for Female Voices with In Mulieribus, a professional chamber ensemble dedicated to exploring repertoire for treble voices from the Renaissance to contemporary works. Recently, she has been featured on Ensemble Altera’s album Feminine Voices at Christmas as well as The Crossing’s release At Which Point. Locally, she has appeared as a soloist with Vox Seraphim and in the Robert and Betty Young Sacred Concert Series.
Jenna earned her undergraduate degree in Choral Music Education and her graduate degree in Conducting with a Choral Emphasis from Baylor University, graduating with honors. In her free time, she enjoys seeking new adventures, improving her golf game, and sharing laughs with her husband, Will, and their beloved dog, Hildegard.
