🌻 When Small Things Make a Big Difference

“For who hath despised the day of small things?” — Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)

Have you ever felt like what you’re doing just isn’t enough? Maybe you’re trying to make a difference, build something meaningful, or simply become a better version of yourself. But progress seems so small that you wonder if it’s making any difference at all.

Today’s scripture reminds us that small beginnings are not insignificant beginnings. In the book of Zechariah, God’s people were rebuilding the temple, and the work ahead seemed overwhelming. Yet God encouraged them not to underestimate what was being accomplished, even when the progress appeared small.

We often measure success by big accomplishments, but God can work through the smallest efforts. A kind word, a quiet prayer, five minutes spent listening to someone, or one step toward a long-held dream can have an impact far greater than we realize. You don’t have to do something extraordinary to do something meaningful.

At Lakeview UMC, we believe a small church can have a big heart. HOME isn’t built in a single day. It’s created through countless little moments of kindness, friendship, faith, and love. And every person who walks through our doors becomes part of that story. ❤️

💬 What’s one small accomplishment or little victory you’re celebrating this week? Big or small, we’d love to celebrate with you!

🌻 The Gift of Being Seen
“Thou God seest me.” — Genesis 16:13 (KJV)
Have you ever felt invisible? Maybe you've worked hard without anyone noticing, walked through a difficult season without anyone asking how you're doing, or felt like the world was moving along while you were standing still.
Today's scripture comes from the story of Hagar, a woman who found herself alone in the wilderness, frightened and uncertain about her future. In one of her most difficult moments, she discovered something remarkable: God saw her. Not just her circumstances, but her fear, her struggles, and her worth.
What a comforting reminder for us today. We live in a world where it's easy to feel overlooked, but our value isn't determined by how much attention we receive or how much we accomplish. We matter simply because we are God's creation. Even when we feel forgotten by the world, we are never invisible to Him.
And perhaps that's one of the most beautiful things we can offer one another: the gift of being seen. At Lakeview UMC, we want HOME to mean more than a building. We want it to be a place where people are noticed, remembered, and loved. Whether you're new to faith, returning after time away, or simply searching for a place to belong, we're glad you're here. ❤️
đź’¬ Here's a little challenge for today: Who is someone who always makes you feel seen and appreciated? Give them a shout-out in the comments or send them a message to let them know!

🌻 You Never Know What Someone Is Carrying

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

Have you ever passed someone in the grocery store, at work, or even at church and wondered what kind of day they’re having? We see smiles, hear cheerful greetings, and exchange the usual “I’m fine,” but the truth is, we rarely know what someone else is going through.

The person standing beside us might be grieving a loss, struggling financially, feeling lonely, or simply trying to make it through a difficult season. Today’s scripture reminds us that we weren’t created to carry life’s burdens entirely alone. Sometimes God’s love is experienced through the kindness and compassion of another person.

And here’s something worth remembering: You don’t have to solve someone’s problems to make a difference in their life. A thoughtful message, a listening ear, an encouraging word, or simply remembering someone’s name can mean more than we realize. Sometimes the smallest gestures remind people that they haven’t been forgotten.

That’s what we hope HOME feels like at Lakeview UMC. Not a place where everyone has a perfect life, but a community where people care about one another, celebrate together, and help carry the weight when life gets heavy. Whether you’re looking for a church family or simply a place where someone will notice you’re there, you are welcome here. ❤️

💬 Let’s put today’s scripture into action! Who is someone you’d like to encourage or thank today? Give them a shout-out in the comments, or take a moment to send them a message. You never know how much they might need it!

🍂 You Don’t Have to Have All the Answers

“Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” — Mark 9:24 (KJV)

Have you ever wondered if having questions about God means your faith isn’t strong enough? Maybe you’ve prayed for something that didn’t happen, experienced a loss you couldn’t understand, or found yourself wondering why life can be so difficult.

In today’s scripture, a father desperately seeking help for his child speaks some of the most relatable words in the Bible. He believes, but he also struggles with doubt. And here’s the beautiful part: Jesus doesn’t turn him away for admitting it.

Sometimes we think faith means being absolutely certain about everything. But faith can also look like showing up when you’re unsure, praying when you don’t know what to say, or taking one small step toward God while still carrying a hundred questions. You don’t have to understand everything to begin a relationship with God.

That’s the kind of HOME we hope to create at Lakeview UMC. A place where questions are welcome, struggles aren’t hidden, and nobody has to pretend their faith is perfect. Whether you’ve been part of a church your entire life or you’re just beginning to explore what you believe, there’s a place for you here. ❤️

💬 Let’s encourage one another today! What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone who is just beginning their faith journey?

The Courage to Begin Again

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)

Have you ever wished you could start a day over? Maybe yesterday didn’t go as planned. You lost your patience, said something you regret, or simply didn’t accomplish everything you hoped. Sometimes we carry yesterday’s disappointments into today before our feet even touch the floor.

But there’s something beautiful about this morning’s scripture: God’s compassion doesn’t run out because we had a difficult day. Every sunrise offers another opportunity to grow, to forgive, to try again, and to extend ourselves a little grace.

We often expect more from ourselves than we would ever expect from someone we love. We forgive others for being human, yet hold ourselves to impossible standards. What if today we remembered that a bad day doesn’t make a bad life, and yesterday’s mistakes don’t have to define tomorrow?

That’s part of what coming HOME means, too. Knowing there’s a place where you don’t have to pretend you have everything figured out. Whether you’re returning to church after years away, exploring faith for the first time, or simply looking for a little encouragement, there’s room for you at Lakeview UMC. ❤️

💬 Let’s share a little encouragement today! What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this weekend? Sometimes a fresh start begins with something as simple as having something to look forward to.
