On June 10, 1866, a small group of eighteen former enslaved believers planted a church that would become a cornerstone of faith and strength in our community. Today, we celebrate 160 years of worship, service, and unwavering trust in God.

We honor our founders, our ancestors, and every member who has helped carry this ministry forward. May we continue to build on this powerful legacy.

A time was truly had today!!

The New Hope Baptist Church family had the pleasure and honor of worshipping with First Baptist Church of Waco (FBC Waco) during their 175th Anniversary Morning Worship and celebration luncheon. On this day, May 31, 1851, four members organized what would become a historic pillar in this city. Among their early congregation were eighteen formerly enslaved individuals who, by courage and by faith, went on to establish the oldest African American Baptist Church in Central Texas, New Hope Baptist Church.

On June 10, we will celebrate 160 years of that legacy.

Our historical kinship runs richly and deeply, as two of the oldest churches in Waco, bound by faith, resilience, and God’s sustaining grace. We thank God for what He has done and for what He continues to do through both ministries.

Happy 175th Anniversary, First Baptist Church of Waco! May God continue to bless your church, your leadership, and your legacy!!

The New Hope Baptist Church has postponed our anniversary celebration due to needed repairs and will share more at a later date.
