A great group of believers at First Assembly met to train on becoming a follower of Christ. The study guide was "Growing in Christ" by the Navigators. It is a great guide for helping new and growing believers gain a greater grasp of becoming Mature in Christ.

The Picture of a Disciple
Family Worship Center in Waco, Texas is developing their church’s biblical picture of a disciple. After examining the life of Christ, His methods and characteristics of a disciple, they will formulate their church’s picture. Once we understand this, it will help us become and model a biblical follower of Jesus Christ.

Disciple-making can be intimidating. You might think that someone who makes disciples has to be a teacher, a missionary, or someone who is seminary trained. Would it surprise you to know that disciple-making is just a lifestyle in which you offer people love, comfort, and encouragement where they live, work, and play?

Despite our weaknesses and fears, Jesus invites us to participate in the Great Commission by helping people live for Christ in the here and now. All you have to do is live intentionally, love God, and journey alongside others—life to life.

This ten-week Bible study with discussion questions spells out the “how” of making disciples through an alongsider approach to life. Discover and apply the practices of an alongsider, such as reading the Bible with others, asking questions, telling stories, encouraging application, and living on mission.

We will be forming a group in January for men who want to learn how to make disciples.

Since I started the journey of being on staff with the Navigators I’ve always asked myself the question, what do I do with my neighborhood. Jesus asked the question to all the smart religious people, who is my neighbor. So a few neighbors and I thought, let’s start a neighborhood group and get to know people and ask questions and share stories of life. So our neighborhood group was formed and I still have a question, what about my neighborhood? So today I think I found the answer to that question. The video will explain everything.

Here is the story of how one person found out how to do neighborhood. I hope you’ll enjoy it. It is a little bit longer like 34 minutes, but maybe we will understand my point about going and Godspeed.
