Due to the impending winter storm, Father Paul has canceled the 8:00 a.m. Mass tomorrow, November 30, 2025, at Sacred Heart church in Volga. Other Mass opportunities in the pastorate include 10:00 a.m. Mass in Edgewood and 4:00 p.m. Mass in Strawberry Point.

This morning, Sacred Heart came together for Fr. John’s final Mass with our parish family. There was a great turnout, as we gathered to celebrate him and send him off with our prayers and gratitude.

As a farewell gift, Fr. John was presented with a hand-carved heart featuring the Serenity Prayer by Leon Deutsch, and our faith formation kids even surprised him with a special song.

Fr. John, you will be deeply missed — but we wish you all the best in your well-deserved retirement and look forward to seeing you when you sub in the future. Congratulations and God bless!

We invite all families to participate in this year’s Totus Tuus summer program, taking place from June 15–20. This fun and faith-filled week is open to children and youth, and offers a wonderful opportunity to grow in love and knowledge of the Catholic faith.

This year’s focus is on the Seven Sacraments and the Joyful Mysteries. Through engaging lessons, games, songs, and prayer, participants will explore the beauty and richness of our Catholic traditions.

Led by a dynamic team of college students and a seminarian—all filled with the Holy Spirit and passionate about sharing their faith—Totus Tuus promises to be an unforgettable experience for your children.

While your children dive into their faith, parents and grandparents can enjoy a well-deserved break knowing their kids are in good hands, learning and growing in a joyful and safe environment.

What a joyful Sunday at Sacred Heart in Volga! On May 11, we celebrated our graduating seniors, the Crowning of Mary, and First Communion—all during a beautiful Mass. Congratulations to everyone who took part in these special moments! Many thanks to Father John and Deacon Paul for leading such a meaningful celebration. It was a truly blessed day, filled with joy and community both during and after Mass!

Brady and Garrett had a great time at their First Communion retreat. They toured the Basilica in Dyersville and learned how to make hosts. It was a fun morning with all the second graders from our Emmaus Pastorate!

Sacred Heart was graced with the presence of Arch Bishop Thomas Zinkula, who celebrated 8 am Mass, along with our Faith Formation students. We are very proud of all our students and the wonderful job they did, especially the beautiful song they sang as a group at the end of Mass.

A big thank you to all of our Faith Formation teachers and leaders that make this program possible. It is a wonderful addition to our church and makes us vibrant within our Emmaus Pastorate.
