On this 10th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, we pause to remember the 49 lives lost, the many others who were injured, and the families, friends, and communities forever changed by this tragedy. We honor the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to building a world where every person can live openly, safely, and with dignity. As Unitarian Universalists, we are guided by our belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We remember those taken from us at Pulse not only in grief, but also in hope—renewing our dedication to love, justice, inclusion, and the sacred value of every human life.

A few photos from last Sunday's service in celebration of PRIDE month. A big thank you to Brian Poth, CEO of the The Source LGBT+ Center, who not only attended our service, but also conducted the opening welcome. Kudos also goes out to one of our newer church attendees, Slade, who put together the order of service and provided the homily for the day's service. Lastly, you may have noticed a "sister" in our audience. This was Sister Lavinia Always of the national organization Sisterhood of Perpetual Indulgence who shared a few words as well.

Along with the worship, the potlucks, and the friendships, there's another gift many people find in a UU community:

The freedom to be yourself.

No pretending required.

Just a welcome that says, "Come as you are. There's room for you here.”❤️🕯️

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Visalia extends heartfelt thanks to all of our members and friends who attended yesterday’s Annual Business Meeting. Your presence, thoughtful participation, and continued dedication to our fellowship are deeply appreciated. Active involvement is the lifeblood of any church community, and gatherings such as these remind us that a congregation is strengthened not only by shared beliefs, but by the generosity, service, and commitment of its people. Regardless of denomination, every church is only as strong and vibrant as the volunteer spirit of its members, and we are grateful for the many individuals who give their time, talents, and energy to help our fellowship grow, serve, and thrive together this past year. Also, a hearty welcome to all of the new folks coming into leadership roles for the 2026-2027 year.

The Unitarian Universalist Church respects and and allows in it’s Fourth Principle “A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” In that spirit the following editorial commentary is offered. We are all empowered to assess this statement and make of it what we will.

You are warmly invited to attend an important and timely lecture hosted by the The Source LGBT+ Center featuring University of Toronto's Dr. Lucas Wilson. This event will explore the realities and impacts of so-called “conversion therapy,” offering both education and space for reflection. All are welcome to join this meaningful conversation as we deepen our understanding and commitment to dignity, inclusion, and justice for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Conversion therapy refers to a range of discredited practices that attempt to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. These practices are not supported by any major medical or psychological organization and have been shown to cause significant harm, including increased risks of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Rather than fostering well-being, conversion therapy undermines a person’s sense of self and belonging. This lecture offers an opportunity to learn why affirming and supportive approaches are essential for the health and flourishing of LGBTQ+ people.

This event will take place at the The Source LGBT+ Center On Sunday, May 17th from 3:00PM to 4:30PM.

A good sense that you are attending the right church for you is when your church's association can make you laugh.

Maybe you’ve seen those “starter pack” memes—simple lists meant to capture the recognizable pieces of an experience, community, or way of being.

So…If someone asked what you need to be a Unitarian Universalist, you might hand them this (unofficial😉) starter pack :

- A meeting that could have been an email that became a retreat
- A belief that the question is holier than the answer
- A favorite coffee hour mug you’re slightly emotionally attached to
- An “I Break for the Annual Auction” bumper sticker

What would be in your starter pack? Let us know in the comments!
