Visalia Second Baptist Church Our Mission is to reach the lost with Christ, win souls for Christ and encourage believers in Christ. Visalia Second Missionary Baptist Church

Who Are We?

To answer the question; "Who are We?" we must begin by saying in the early 1900's a group of families from Hope Arkansas decided to relocate to the San Joaquin Valley area of California. These were people much like you and I that wanted only to fulfill their hopes and dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. The exact number of families that decided to venture out together as a

band of Baptized Believers in God and Jesus Christ is not certain, however we do know that they were are as close to one another as biological family members could possibly be. After all, they were a band of religious travelers that were joined together by a "Kindred Spirit" that only believers in Christ Jesus can experience. No one that was part of these early twentieth century pilgrims went without. By that we mean if one had, they all had! They would share everything right down to the last egg or slice of bread. Upon settling down in the Visalia area of Tulare County, these adventurous and robust people would lend themselves to their neighbors and friends to assure each other that the challenge of relocating to a new and sometimes unfriendly location would be a painless and as trouble free as possible. By the grace of God these precious souls labored and toiled together to see many of their dreams come true. The most valued dream and desire for most if not all of these pioneers were to organize and build a church for praise and thanksgiving to their God! In the year of 1920, Visalia "Second" Missionary Baptist Church was organized, however our original name was Visalia "First" Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have provided a sacred place for worship, teaching, mentoring and community outreach. God has blessed us for many years to reach out to those that are in need of food, clothing and shelter. We the members of Visalia Second Missionary Baptist Church truly feel that even though we are not as big in size and number as other church families may be we feel that we have a true purpose in God's divine will to make a difference in the lives that we can reach and introduce to the love of God. Our mission is to reach the lost at any cost; your prayers for our strength and commitment to duty will help.

STAY FOCUSED

Most Christian’s love to recite the Bible but rarely like to follow or abide in its contents. In fact, one of Satan’s greatest weapons in his arsenal of lies, deception, division, chaos and other things…is his ability to “Distract” us.

Whenever God had something special in store for Israel, they allowed the enemy to distract them so much that they didn’t at times, receive what God had for them.

This is why we see a pattern or cycle 🔁 of repeat 🔂 sin in the book 📕 of Judges where God would save Israel from their enemies and they would turn around, and do evil in the sight of God, instead of staying focused on praising, worshipping and obeying Him.

Our distractions today are no different. For example, June 2, 2026 is the deadline for turning in our voting 🗳️ ballots to select individual candidates that are running for office.

Lord knows that we need good people in office who can serve with integrity, honesty, morals and godly values & principles.

So what better way to distract us than by starting the Karmelo Anthony jury selection on June 1, 2026 just one day before the voting 🗳️ ballots are due.

I’m witnessing so much hate and racial rhetoric across social media platforms from BOTH White and Black people. It’s like a verbal attack by the Hatfields and the McCoys.

White supremacist hate groups that stand for an all white American society are forming and standing with banners that solidify their solidarity for “pro white” families as they’ve expressed.

Black people are tossing out agitating racially infused statements that are offensive, uncaring, insensitive and disrespectful towards the family of the victim…all in the name of blackness, while posting pics and slogans of a black fist ✊🏾to say “I stand with Karmelo Anthony.”

Really? What if white people posted slogans saying “We stand with Dylan Roof?” Or “we stand with Jeffrey Epstein?” Do you see how stupid and idiotic everyone is sounding?

Hate begets hate. Violence begets violence. Racism begets racism. Hostility, anger 😡, racism and animosity inherently triggers more of the same in return.

Facebook has become the platform for people to spew what’s already inside of their hearts ♥️, which is why it has become the perfect cesspool for Satan to use for keeping us distracted.

We are reminded in (Matthew 26:41) to watch 👀 and pray 🙏🏽 which keeps us spiritually alert 🚨 for remaining connected to God, the way a WiFi 🛜 signal stays connected to our electronics.

This practice helps us to avoid distractions from the anxieties of the world 🌎. The way people are acting and displaying themselves right now says more about 👉🏾YOU 👈 than it does about a court case.

Stop 🛑 being distracted on the things of this world and start being more focused with those who are on their way to an eternal hell, with no true knowledge of, or relationship with the only ONE ☝️ who can keep them from going to hell in the first place.

LOVE IS NOT LOVE. 🏳️‍🌈

We’ve become so obsessed with feelings that we’ve forgotten what love actually is.

Love is not affirming everything.
Love is not celebrating every desire.
Love is not applauding behavior God calls sin.

If love means never confronting wrong, then parents don’t love their children.

Pastors don’t love their churches.
And Jesus didn’t love the people He called to repent.

Real love tells the truth even when the truth is unpopular.

The world says:
“Accept me as I am.”

Love without truth is not love.

“Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.”
— 1 Corinthians 13

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

We had a blessed service on Sunday morning for worship. As I walked out of my office and into the pulpit, I looked up to see Pastor Frank Wilson sitting on the front pew.

Even stricken with his health condition after surviving cancer and a stroke, his wife got him ready and his son, who came all the way from the Riverside area, drove to Fresno, picked up his dad and drove him to Visalia from Fresno just so he could worship with us.

This is the Pastor that stood in the pulpit for 43 years before I arrived. I remember asking my Deacon chair to take me to go see him before I took over.

Because I didn’t feel right assuming the pulpit unless I met, and paid my respects to the man of God who held it down before my arrival.

So my Deacon chair took me to Pastor Wilson’s home in Fresno to meet him. We sat and talked and this giant of a preacher/teacher/shepherd poured his wisdom into me within that short visit.

It felt right to get his blessing and my spirit was truly settled after sitting with Pastor Wilson. It was truly an honor, a privilege and a blessing to have Pastor Frank Wilson and his son in attendance on Sunday.

To God be the glory 🙌🏽👏🙏🏽

PARENTING 101

Every time I see videos of ignorant youth fighting, cursing, waving guns, posting money with no jobs, drinking, stealing, robbing, looting, glorifying abortions and protesting against things they can’t even spell…

I don’t blame the ignorant youth, I blame the stupid parents.

Children aren’t born mean, bully’s, gay, horrible, racist, spiteful, thieves, rapists, gang members, hateful, jealous, envious, bitter, God haters and so much more…

Those are all learned behaviors from children mimicking what they’ve seen, heard, experienced and or learned from their surroundings.

As a society we’ve developed this idiotic concept that “No Child Left Behind” in school is supposed to ensure a child’s success going forward so they don’t suffer in life as adults.

Yet, we leave them behind in morals, ethics, respect for elders & authority, decency, self worth, integrity, common sense, a relationship & knowledge of God, a reverence for God, prayer, courteousness, and love for others.

No child will ever be left behind for a Satan to infiltrate when parents get off their rumps and move forward in training up a child in the way he or she (should) go, and not the way we allow them to roam (Proverbs 22:6).
