Storehouse Food Pantry

Storehouse Food Pantry Based out of Courthouse Community United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, VA, we serve hundreds of people each week.

The Storehouse Food Pantry, Courthouse Community United Methodist Church, began operation in 2008. Our mission is to provide groceries to supplement the food resources of people in our community who lack sufficient food. Initially, the Storehouse Food Pantry was open every Wednesday from 10:00 am to noon. In 2013, we added evening hours every Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in order to serve peo

ple who worked during the day, but who still faced food shortages (we are now open from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm). In 2015, we served 3,252 families consisting of 13,340 people, including over 4,800 children. However, we serve everyone who comes to us for food, including a number of homeless individuals. Our customers are permitted to obtain food from our food pantry every week. We give our customers choices from 57 canned or boxed food items. We also provide bread that we obtain from Panera Bread; fresh eggs that we get from one of our partner churches; and we also purchase fresh produce each week. We have 79 people serving a variety of tasks in the Storehouse Food Pantry. We have partnered with six other churches in our area to keep our food pantry fully stocked every week. We are supported by donations of food and money given by the congregations of these seven churches and by food drives conducted annually by several Virginia Beach Public Schools. In recent years we have had to supplement these donations with grants and fundraisers in order to meet our needs.

🌟🎉 HUGE congratulations to our amazing composting partner, Storehouse Food Pantry at Courthouse Community UMC 🎉🌟

They’ve officially diverted over 6,000 lbs. of compostables from our local landfills! ♻️🍎 That’s a massive impact — equivalent to:
🌱 41 trees planted
🚗 6,284 miles of driving offset
🔥 2,800 lbs. of coal NOT burned
📱 307,898 smartphones charged
💪 And 3.2 tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled!

Every week, Storehouse serves hundreds of families in need with love, care, and now — a deep commitment to sustainability 💚🌍. We’re incredibly proud to work alongside such a dedicated team making a difference in both people’s lives and the planet’s future.

THANK YOU for showing how composting can power positive change! 🙌

We’re incredibly excited to announce the launch of our new composting partnership with the Storehouse Food Pantry and Courthouse Community UMC in Virginia Beach.

Their active food pantry receives significant contributions from our local grocery stores. However, when accepting these food items, they get EVERYTHING. Therefore, they are forced to discard all food items that are not fresh enough to serve to their pantry visitors. This partnership will give a second life to these potential waste materials!

Does your church, food pantry, restaurant, café, brewery, or office (and more!) want to serve as an environmental steward and work towards a healthier community? Reach out today for a free commercial composting service quote. We want to help your organization go green! ♻️🌎🌱
