On October 21, 2021, our beloved pastor of 14 years, Todd Rawlings, passed away due to complications from COVID-19. Through him we were blessed to receive both the love and the admonishment of God and His word, and we will be forever grateful for the ministry of our friend and shepherd, whom we miss to this day. After taking counsel with trusted leaders, with one another, and with the Holy Spirit,

we felt the Lord calling us to be adopted by another congregation. As of Easter Sunday, 2022, we began calling Grace River Church, pastored by John McCloud, our church home, and we have been blessed by the ministry of God’s grace and the fellowship of His people in that context. The vineyard of His Kingdom is His and His alone to till and to trim as He sees fit, to His glory. We will always remember Todd and our time together as New Life with fondness and gratitude for the kindness God has shown us. But we are called to new things — to a new life – in a different part of the vineyard, and we embrace what our Father is doing with anticipation. And may the Lord of comfort, the God who MAKES ALL THINGS NEW, be with you always.

AN IMPORTANT REMINDER RE: EASTER SUNDAY SERVICES The cross is not a defeat, but a victory. It is the dramatic reassertion of the fact that God’s love is sovereign, that the rulers of the world do not

We're going to be cancelling Sunday service this week due to the weather and potentially hazardous road conditions tomorrow morning.

Remember prayer this week on Thursday at 7pm. Would like as many people to be there as possible, because in addition to prayer, we have some things I'd like to discuss.

Barring another winter weather event, Pastor Bill Breon will be with us next week on the 30th.

Love and blessings to you all!

Dear Church Family,

Please remember Dave Biggers and his family in your prayers. I got word this afternoon that Terri passed away in her sleep this morning.

Terri was tough and tenacious, but full of love and a desire to serve the Lord. While visiting with Dave this afternoon, I learned that even while contending with the illness that has dogged her for so long, she was actively caring for a little girl so her single mom could work without having to worry about child care.

I hurt for Dave at the loss of his bride, but we can all rejoice that she has been released once and for all from bodily brokenness and stands forever in the pure glory of her Lord.

We'll have information on memorial services and a meal train soon.

Love and blessings to all,

Rob

Hello, Loved Ones,

This is Pastor Rob.

It's hard to know where to begin with a communiqué like this. For those reading this who might still be unaware, Pastor Todd passed away suddenly yesterday due to complications from COVID. Obviously, we're all still reeling and grieving Pastor Todd's passing.

I spoke briefly with Rena last night, and she was quick to point out that Todd's homecoming is something to celebrate. She's right -- it really is better to depart and be with the Lord. But we all know how much Todd loved people, and when changes in circumstances took members of our flock to new venues, it was almost an agony for him to have to say goodbye. St. Paul wrote to the Thessalonians that his affection for them was akin to a nursing mother caring for her children. Todd was certainly a father in the faith, but I think that what Paul expressed was something akin to Todd's heart for all of us -- and it's one of the big reasons why his absence is felt so keenly.

That brings me to our plans for the immediate future. The goal is to keep things consistent and as close to "normal" as we can under the circumstances. The Church is meant to be a place where both our deepest griefs and and our highest joys are shared, because we all have a common bond in Christ through the Holy Spirit. For that reason, we're going to have Sunday services as we normally would, even this weekend. At the same time, we recognize that everyone processes grief differently, and there are times where we need to closet ourselves for a bit to process what we're feeling with God. If you need to lay low this week, please feel free to do that. For my own part, I encourage you to come if you can -- we need each other in this time, and I long to see your faces so that we can bear one another's burdens and strengthen one another as we remember our pastor and friend.

As for the path forward, we'll think and pray through that together soon enough. There is a time for everything under heaven. Right now, it's time for us to weep, to mourn, and to heal. Lord willing, in due season, it will also be time to laugh and to dance, to build and to plant.

"May the God of peace be with you all. Amen." (Romans 15:33, ESV)

Love and blessings to you,

Rob
