This Sunday, Pastor Buddy continued our Psalms series by looking at Psalm 1 and the contrast between chaff that is blown away by the wind and a tree planted by streams of water. One life is carried wherever the world takes it, while the other is firmly rooted and sustained.

Psalm 1 reminds us that Christianity is more than a list of rules to follow. It is a relationship with God. As we delight in Him and remain rooted in His Word, He shapes our hearts, strengthens our faith, and helps us stand firm through every season.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” — John 15:13 (NKJV)

On June 6, 1944, thousands of Allied soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy in what became known as D-Day. Many knew the dangers they faced, yet they moved forward with courage and determination, willing to sacrifice for the freedom of others.

As we remember their bravery, we are reminded of an even greater sacrifice. Jesus Christ willingly gave His life on the cross so that we might have eternal freedom from sin and death. The courage displayed on D-Day points us to the ultimate example of love found in Christ.

Just as those soldiers trusted their leaders and advanced despite uncertainty, Christians are called to trust God and faithfully move forward in obedience, even when the path is difficult.

Today, let us honor those who served and sacrificed, give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy, and remember the Savior who gave everything for us.

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.”
Psalm 33:1

This past Sunday, we began a new series through the Psalms as Pastor Mike opened Psalm 33 and reminded us that worship should be Christ-centered, done with excellence, and marked by celebration.

This Sunday, Pastor Buddy will continue our series as we gather to worship, open God’s Word, and be encouraged together.

It’s also Big Breakfast Sunday, so come early, enjoy fellowship, and stay for worship.

We hope to see you Sunday!

“Let us lay aside every weight… looking unto Jesus.”
Hebrews 12:1-2

This week during our communion meditation, Elder Waverly Morris reminded us that we all carry burdens. Some are struggles, some are fears, and some are wounds that seem too heavy to bear.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus invites us to lay those weights down and fix our eyes on Him. Through the cross, He carried the burden of sin that we never could.

Each week, as we gather around the Lord’s Table, we remember the One who removed our greatest burden and gave us hope, grace, and new life.

May we lay aside every weight and look to Jesus today.

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
Philippians 4:11 (NIV)

Sunday, Pastor Buddy reminded us that contentment isn’t found in perfect circumstances, but in Christ. “I can do all things through Christ” is not about getting everything we want, it’s about trusting Him in every season.

As we close our time in Philippians, we’re grateful for the reminder that Christ is enough in every season.

This upcoming Sunday, we’ll begin walking through selected Psalms together and starting a new series.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”
Romans 12:15

Today we pause with thankful hearts to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day reminds us that behind every name is a story, behind every sacrifice is a family, and behind every loss is someone still carrying the weight of remembrance.

So today we honor them, we give thanks, and we mourn with those who mourn today.

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you.”
John 15:4

Before the week ends, take a moment to breathe, pray, and remain close to the One who gives life.

There is peace in staying close to Jesus.

There’s a place for you here.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Life gets busy and heavy sometimes, and it’s easy to feel disconnected or worn down. But Jesus invites the weary to come to Him, and we believe no one was meant to walk through life alone.

If you’ve been looking for a church home, a place to belong, or simply somewhere to come worship and grow, we’d love to have you with us this Sunday at Willow Oak Christian Church. ❤️

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Philippians 4:4

This Sunday we continued in the book of Philippians with a message on what it means to rejoice always. Pastor Mike reminded us that Paul is not calling us to rejoice because life is easy. He is reminding us that our joy is rooted in the Lord, even when conflict is present and anxiety feels heavy.

When conflict comes, Paul calls us to respond with gentleness, remembering that the Lord is near and we are not walking through it alone.

When anxiety comes, we are reminded that worry does not carry tomorrow for us, but God does. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus reminds us that our Father knows what we need, that He is with us in every season, and that our hearts are to seek first His Kingdom.

What a powerful message for the world we live in today.

May we be a people who rejoice in the Lord, walk gently with one another, and trust God with tomorrow.

We’d love to have you join us next Sunday.
