“Pray for Orlando” — 7 Days of Prayer for the the 2026 SBC Annual Meeting:

📆 Starting today, June 8. Based on the Resolutions Committee slate and scheduled events. Here are a few prayer prompts this week as God’s people gather in central Florida.
🙏🏼 Monday: For Unity Around the Gospel. John 17:21 — “that they may all be one... so that the world may believe” Pray the 12,000+ messengers would keep the main thing the main thing. Ask God to guard our convention from a fractured witness. Secondary issues are real, but lost people need Jesus more than they need our Twitter debates.
🙏🏼 Tuesday: For President Clint Pressley + Platform Leaders 1 Timothy 2:1-2 — “pray for... all who are in high positions” Pray for Clint Pressley as he presides. Ask for wisdom, patience, and a pastoral tone. Pray for the parliamentarians, Committee on Resolutions, and tech teams. A lot happens nobody sees.
🙏🏼 Wednesday: For Clarity on the Office of Pastor 2 Timothy 2:15 — “rightly handling the word of truth” One resolution addresses the office of the pastor. This has been a debated issue. Pray for charity and conviction — that we’d be biblical, not tribal. Pray for bivocational pastors back home in places like Eastern Kentucky who hold this office faithfully.
🙏🏼 Thursday: For “Bearing His Image” + Protecting the Vulnerable
Matthew 18:6 — “whoever causes one of these little ones... to sin” Monday’s event covers online exploitation, sexual abuse prevention, survivor care, and human trafficking. Pray for churches to become the safest places on earth for kids. Pray for survivors to find healing. Pray for courage to do safeguarding right even when it’s hard.
🙏🏼 Friday: For Our Witness on Hard Cultural Issues Micah 6:8 — “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly”
Resolutions will address immigration, political violence, assisted su***de, antisemitism, and AI. Pray we’d speak truth with tears, not just heat. Ask God to give messengers words that are both clear and cruciform. Pray every Bible believing church would model this.
🙏🏼 Saturday: For the Local Church + Disabilities Ministry 1 Corinthians 12:22 — “the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable” Resolutions highlight the physically gathered church in a digital age and care for persons with disabilities. Thank God for Virgie Baptist church that still meets face-to-face. Pray for families in our pews touched by disability — that we’d be a church where everybody belongs.
🙏🏼 Sunday: For Missionaries + Planters Sent Out Matthew 9:38 — “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest” The SBC isn’t a building in Nashville. It’s IMB missionaries landing in hard places and NAMB planters signing leases in cities with no gospel witness. Pray for more sent from this meeting. Pray for laborers His Church.
