HOW LONG HAS LAKE DRIVE BEEN IN VINTON?
Well, on April 4, 1973 this building site on 1050 Rt. 24 By-Pass in Vinton was purchased. Land filling operations were started in the summer of 1973.
An iterim facility was purchased in November of 1974 which was a private home located on 211 Virginia Avenue, approximately one mile from the new building site. Thus a physical establishment of the Church of Christ in Vinton was available while the current building was being constructed.
On the evening of January 1, 1975, midweek service was conducted at the location on Virginia Avenue. Thirty-nine people attended.
In November of 1975 construction was begun on the new building site. The facility on Virginia Avenue was sold in June of 1976 and rented by Lake Drive Church of Christ until moving into the new building.
In the fall of 1976, the new building was completed enough so that services could be held in the lower level. Services were held in the newly completed auditorium on the upper level for the first time in January of 1977.
Men who have served as evangelist of Lake Drive Church of Christ to this date are:
