The Healer | Tim Wright | Evangel Church

Our journey in discipleship continues as we live to grow, serve, worship, and share becoming more like Jesus. Jesus is our Healer. He brings restoration for body, soul, and spirit. Jesus is the suffering Servant and Healer. He is the Healer who feels our pain. He identifies with our suffering. He has authority over sickness, hell, sin, and death. Healing and forgiveness are inseparable.

Jesus, the Healer, calls us to faith. Prayer in faith is trust, reliance, and confidence. Faith is not bargaining with God. Faith is standing in power, trusting His will, and receiving His touch. Healing is both physical and spiritual. Receive your healing today.

Peter The Sanguine | Liz Dowdy | Evangel Church

Dolly Pardon may have been the best known Sanguine of our time. She was that talkative, giving, flamboyant person who always made her presence known. She loved all people and everyone love her. The disciple Peter was another Sanguine. Peter was a brash, talkative, reckless man who loved Jesus passionately. Like many sanguine, he bites off more than he can chew, is extremely optimistic and speaks without thinking.

As we study the life of Peter, we see positive and negative traits of a Sanguine. When Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit, we see a change. Peter’s fear and inconsistency became confidence as he boldly preached the Gospel. But being filled with the Spirit did not make Peter perfect. None of us will ever be perfect in this life. But the Holy Spirit helps us face our problems and deal with them. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can all live Spirit-filled lives so that our natural weaknesses can become strong points to be used by God for His glory.

"I've buried my past and I'm not going back!" Water baptism is a public profession of faith - Dying to self and living for Christ. Awesome to celebrate and rejoice with those baptized in water yesterday! It's exciting to see how God is stirring hearts, giving us boldness to step up and step out, and be true disciples of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

What Are We Doing with the Words of Jesus? | Thomas Rizuto | Evangel Church

Are we changed when we hear God’s Word? Is His Lordship shaping our life? Let’s not be apathetic in our faith. God is speaking so we should be responding to Him. Don’t let familiarity replace mission.

God’s Word challenges our preconceived notions and pride. We are challenged to take up our cross daily. It is okay to struggle. Grace will meet us there. But grace does not give permission to be disobedient. Do we trust Him enough to obey Him?

Big moments test the foundations of our life. And those big moments can be the day in and day out. Dig deep in the Word and in your relationship with God. Build your foundation on the Rock. Know God is present with us in every moment of every day. Rest secure in that truth.

Luke 6:46-49; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Luke 9:23

Why We Act the Way We Do | Liz Dowdy | Evangel Church

The temperament you are born with determines how you look at life and the decisions you make. Sanguine. Melancholy. Choleric. Phlegmatic. There are no better or bad temperaments. You are who you are, and no one can exchange his temperament for a different one.

As we study temperaments, it helps us to see our natural strengths and weaknesses. It helps us understand how the Holy Spirit can help us control our responses and behaviors. We will see ourselves and many of those around us since there are four temperaments and 12 blends. But we must be careful about labeling people. A label is useful when it helps clarify differences and harmful when it creates barriers.

Luke 1:38; Luke 2:19
