“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What are you building your life on?

In Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus closes the Sermon on the Mount with a picture of two builders. Both heard His words. Both built a house. Both faced the storm.

The difference was what they did with what they heard.

The wise builder heard the words of Jesus and put them into practice.

It’s possible to know Scripture, hear sermons, attend church, and still resist the authority of Jesus in our lives. But discipleship isn’t simply about knowing more of the Bible, it’s about becoming more like Jesus through surrender and obedience.

Every decision, habit, relationship, private choice, act of obedience, and compromise is another brick. Every day, we’re building.

So the question isn’t, “Am I building?”

It’s “What am I building on?”

Don’t wait for the storm to decide whether Jesus is Lord. Build now. Obey what you already know. Let Jesus correct you. Build in private. Give Him authority over every area of your life.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” - Matthew 7:24
