Hurricane season officially begins today, June 1st, and will end on November 30, 2026. We invite you to join us in praying the following prayer, composed in 1957 by The Most Reverend Maurice Schexnayder, Second Bishop of Lafayette, following Hurricane Audrey:

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the Master of the land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, and overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.

During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.

Tonight, Sacred Heart Evangelizing was blessed to prepare and serve a hot meal to our brothers and sisters in need at Grace on the Street. We were also able to distribute hygiene products to help meet some of their daily needs.

We also delivered food to our sheriffs department dispatchers this evening.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ and to share His love with those in our community.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me.” — Matthew 25:35

Thank you to everyone who supports our ministry and makes these acts of mercy possible. May God continue to bless all those who give, serve, and receive.

Saint of the Day: Saint Justin Martyr (c. 100–165 AD) was an early Christian philosopher and apologist who sought truth through various schools of thought before encountering Christ, whom he recognized as the fulfillment of all wisdom. After his conversion, he devoted his life to teaching and defending the Christian faith, especially in Rome, where he wrote his well-known Apologies explaining Christian beliefs and practices to Roman authorities. His writings offer one of the earliest descriptions of the Mass and a witness to the life of the early Church. Refusing to renounce his faith under persecution during the reign of Marcus Aurelius, Justin was martyred for his steadfast devotion to Christ.

✝️ 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧, 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗔 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
A Catholic wedding is far more than beautiful clothing, photographs, music, or a reception.
Holy Matrimony is a sacred covenant established by God Himself.
In the Sacrament of Marriage:
• A man and woman freely give themselves to one another
• God unites them as husband and wife
• Grace is given to help them love faithfully and sacrificially
• Their union becomes a visible sign of Christ’s love for His Church
Marriage is not merely a legal contract.
It is a holy vocation.
✝️ 𝟭. 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘
In a Catholic wedding, the bride and groom vow:
• Fidelity
• Permanence
• Self-giving love
The marital covenant is not meant to last only while emotions remain strong.
True love is faithful even in suffering, sacrifice, trials, and old age.
What God joins together is meant to remain united.
✝️ 𝟮. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧
In the Latin Catholic tradition, the priest does not “perform” the marriage alone.
The bride and groom administer the sacrament to one another through their vows and consent.
The priest:
• Receives the vows of the Church
• Blesses the union
• Witnesses the covenant
Marriage requires free and sincere consent.
Without genuine consent, there is no sacramental marriage.
✝️ 𝟯. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘
Catholic marriage is not centered on self-interest.
Husband and wife are called to:
• Serve one another
• Forgive one another
• Carry one another’s burdens
• Grow together in holiness
The model for Christian marriage is Jesus Christ Himself.
Love in marriage is not merely emotional.
It is sacrificial, faithful, and life-giving.
✝️ 𝟰. 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘
Children are not obstacles to marriage.
They are blessings from God.
A Catholic marriage is naturally ordered toward:
• The good of the spouses
• The procreation and upbringing of children
Parents become the first teachers of the faith within the home.
The Christian family is often called the “domestic church.”
✝️ 𝟱. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧
The beauty of a Catholic wedding is not found merely in decorations or traditions.
Its deepest meaning is found at the altar.
The Eucharist reminds the couple that:
• Love requires sacrifice
• Grace comes from God
• Christ must remain at the center of the marriage
Without prayer and God’s grace, marriage becomes difficult to sustain.
With Christ, husband and wife can persevere in holiness and unity.
✝️ 𝗕𝗘𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬
A Catholic wedding lasts one day.
A sacramental marriage is meant to last a lifetime.
The vocation of marriage continues:
• In daily sacrifice
• In forgiveness
• In raising children
• In prayer together
• In remaining faithful through every season of life
The wedding ceremony ends.
The sacrament continues.
✝️ 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦
Holy Matrimony is one of the great treasures of the Church.
Through this sacrament:
• Two souls become one family
• Love is sanctified by grace
• The home becomes a place of faith
• Husband and wife help one another reach Heaven
For Christian marriage is not only about living together on earth —
it is about helping one another attain eternal life.
