Congratulations to our journal co-editor, Thomas Rzeznik, and former co-editor, Maggie McGuinness, on the publication of their new edited volume -- The Cambridge Companion to American Catholicism. It contains 19 chapters, many of them written by scholars whose work will be familiar to regular readers of the journal. It's a phenomenal book, scholarly yet accessible to non-experts. We're delighted to see it in print.

Our Summer 2021 issue has arrived! We're pleased to feature a special forum on "Studying Masculinities, Catholic Style," with contributions by six accomplished scholars. We also have an article on American Catholics and the work of Pax Romana (an international student association) and a fascinating profile of Sister Mary Dennis Donovan, CSJ of Pittsburgh, and her work in civic education and human relations.

Local readers will be especially interested in our cover essay, which recounts the history of the Sisters of the Assumption in the United States. They arrived in Philadelphia in 1919 at the invitation of Cardinal Dougherty, establishing Raven Hill Academy in East Falls. They remain active in the archdiocese today.

The online edition of the issue has not yet been posted by Project Muse. We will alert our digital subscribers as soon as that is made available.
