Have you ever made a cake from scratch using a recipe from a cookbook? Most people read the recipe a few times and then begin to gather the required ingredients to make the cake.

The instructions will tell you to preheat your oven to a certain temperature, flour your baking pans, and add ingredients to a mixing bowl to begin the process.

The recipe will call for certain items to be added first and others to be added as you go along. Each step has been written out to ensure your cake will not only be delicious, but will bake evenly.

After it has gone through the baking process and has cooled, you can add frosting. Then comes the taste test, which everyone anticipates -- you hope they’re not disappointed.

I believe our walk with the Lord goes through a similar process.

The Bible is our recipe book. It gives us the instruction on how to live our lives in a way that’s pleasing to Him. We should read it daily to understand what ingredients help us to produce love, joy, understanding, patience, and more love.

As we yield to His will, we will rise and be elevated in the likeness of the God we serve. His grace and mercy is our frosting. The sweetness of His love is our flavor and people are attracted to us because we represent the love He has for the world.

He made us from scratch. We are unique vessels here to showcase His glory. Our lives are like a recipe, too. Everything we need gets added at the right time to produce the best results. A dash of hardship, handfuls of grace, and morsels of love all work together to declare His glory.

Blessings to all!!!
