Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of a true Tennessee treasure and beloved American icon, Dolly Parton.
Dolly’s life was so much more than the music she gave us. Through her remarkable talent, generous spirit, unmistakable laughter, and extraordinary kindness, she touched generations of lives. From the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains to stages around the world, Dolly never forgot where she came from—and she never stopped giving back to the people and communities she loved.
Her songs became the soundtrack to countless lives. Her stories made us laugh and cry. Her generosity gave children books, families hope, and communities a reason to believe in the goodness of one another. She truly made the world a little brighter simply by being Dolly.
In honor of Dolly and the incredible legacy she leaves behind, Meadowbrook will open our doors to the community tomorrow, August 28th, 2026 through September 25th for a Memorial Book for everyone who would like to come and pay their respects, share a memory, or simply leave a message of love. We chose September 25th in honor of Dolly’s very first album, Hello, I’m Dolly, released in 1967—the beginning of a musical journey that would touch the world.
The Memorial Book will be available for the community to sign Monday through Friday during the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in honor of one of Dolly’s most iconic songs, “9 to 5." We will be giving the memorial book to the Parton/Dean family to cherish.
Whether Dolly’s music carried you through a difficult season, her kindness inspired you, her stories made you smile, or you simply grew up loving the girl from the Tennessee mountains who became a legend—we invite you to come share your memories and leave a message.
To the Parton family, Dolly’s loved ones, friends, and countless admirers around the world, please accept our deepest condolences from all of us at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens!
May we remember Dolly not only for the extraordinary music she created, but for the extraordinary life she lived—and for the countless lives she made better along the way.
Your voice, your stories, your laughter, and your music will live on for generations.
