Vienna Methodist Church

Vienna Methodist Church The Vienna Methodist Church was formed in 1849. Since then, the church has been fulfilling the mission of serving our community.

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. The Vienna United Methodist Church was formed in 1849 (as The Vienna Episcopal Methodist Church). Since then, it has been housed in three different buildings, the most recent being the current location at 313 Church St., erected in 1907. The Vienna United Methodist Church is a warm, l

oving and growing congregation which opens its arms not only to those who already know Christ, but to anyone who is seeking peace and wholeness for their lives.

The Widow of Zarephath's Story

Who was the widow? (1 Kings 17) She was a widowed mother, facing starvation and death. With her final handful of flour and a few drops of olive oil, she is asked to do the unthinkable: trust God’s promise and prepare it for the prophet Elijah instead.
While famine gripped the promised land, God looked to a Gentile in Zarephath to showcase a radically obedient, faithful, and trusting heart—turning her actions into an example for Israel, and a timeless blueprint for our own surrender.
---
A Prayer of Obedience

Through a heart of obedience;
she was met by the God who sustains. 🍞
Almighty God,
Like the widow, help us to know, You are with us; 🕊️
meeting us in our scarcity and providing the peace of provision.
Amen. 🙏

The Courage to Be Seen: Hagar’s Story.

Who was Hagar? (Genesis 16) Hagar was an Egyptian and a servant in a Hebrew household, caught in a complicated family dynamic where she had very little control over her own life. When the treatment she received became unbearable, she fled into the desert wilderness, on a journey back to her homeland.
---
A Prayer of Peace
By a spring in the lonely desert... ⛲
she was found by the God who sees.
To the difficult return...
she walked with the peace of a promise. 🕊️

Almighty God,
Like Hagar, help us to realize You are with us,
finding us in our trouble and walking with us.
Amen. 🙏

“Women of the Old Testament"
Trusting God with a heart like Deborah’s.

Who was Deborah? (Judges 4, 5) Deborah was an Israelite, a judge and a prophetess. She sat under a palm tree helping others with their problems through God's guidance — and she was willing to step onto a battlefield because she was so trusting of God’s voice. God provided flooding rain to lodge the enemy's iron chariots in the mud.
---
A Prayer of Trust

From the quiet shade...
she sat and listened to God. 🌿

To the brave battlefield...
she followed where God led. 🛡️

Almighty God,
Like Deborah, help us to trust Your voice
over our own fears. ✨

Amen. 🙏

Good morning, community.

The 4th Sunday of Easter
..the good shepherd and the sheep.

The relationship (Psalm 23:1) "The Lord is my shepherd..." David likely reflects on his time being a shepherd in his youth, and his realization of the nature of his relationship to the Father.

Jesus shows us the way (1 Peter 2:18-25) Peter illustrates Christ's behavior of suffering and ultimate trust in the Father, and in this, pushes us to be closer to God in our relationship with him. The Father is shepherd and guardian of our souls.

Almighty God,
guide us daily towards the gate of your fold,
that we may enter, and find salvation for our souls.
Amen.
