Long before fitness apps and home workout culture, there was Gilad. S
Gilad Janklowicz, the Israeli-born fitness legend behind Bodiesin Motion, passed away suddenly on June 9 at the age of 71. For over 40 years — filming 600 episodes on the beaches of Hawaii - he made working out feel joyful, accessible, and yes, beautiful.
He was the first fitness show on
ESPN. He was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame.
He inspired generations of people around the world to move their bodies and believe they could.
But Gilad never forgot his roots.
He served as a fitness instructor in the Israel Defense Forces
and maintained
close ties to Israel throughout his life, returning frequently and continuing to explore ways to connect his work with his homeland.
Before his death, he was in advanced discussions to film new fitness programs at some of Israel’s most historic sites — including Masada - reflecting his enduring love for the country and its heritage.
He anchored JLTV’s morning programming for more than 15 years proudly carrying his Jewish identity alongside his global brand.
Yehi zichro baruch. May his memory be a blessing. 🕯️
