We will feed those in need in our community and share the hope of Christ. We need volunteers to arrive at 10am to feed at 11:30am. You can help by showing up to serve and donate for food by notating “River City” on the giving note.

“…that's the very message of the gospel.”

Today is a day we celebrate the freedom that was brought to the enslaved community in the United States, but what exactly is Juneteenth?

June 19, 1865 is the date that hundreds of thousands of slaves were freed in Texas, a full three years after the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War. Even though the proclamation had been signed, the news of freedom did not make to everyone immediately, the news had to be shared. It is now observed by the United States as a federal holiday.

We want to celebrate because Juneteenth proclaimed freedom to an entire group of people
who didn't know they were free—
and that's the very message of the gospel.

Take a moment to praise God for the freedom of our black community and look for ways to show kindness to someone this week who may look differently than you.
