Abraham B. Reading 1814 - 1887
Born in Kentucky, he built his home on Jackson Road, it was later sold to the city and would become the City Hosp, Confederate Hosp, McPherson Hosp, and in more modern times Kuhn Hosp.
He was the owner of A.B. Reading & Bro Foundry. They produced cannons, artillery shells, caissons, etc. for the Confederate Army.
One of their cannons is on display at the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Vicksburg. After 139 years his grave has been marked.

Another round of Veterans headstones have been sprayed. Unforseen circumstances kept me from finishing my (250 in July) project. So I have extended it into August.

Pvt. B. D. Wamack
(3rd Miss Inf Co I)
Enlisted at Bay St. Louis, MS Oct 5, 1861
Died in Vicksburg, MS Aug 13, 1862
His friends buried him in Cedar Hill Cemetery and saw that he had a nice grave marker with his name, embossed with flag and rifles and the words,
“A tribute of respect By the Members of Co. I, 3 Miss. Regt. Miss. Volunteers.”
We know about his death from a letter written by a Lt. McCormack, who knew him.
His original headstone was discovered broken and covered up many years ago. It recently was damaged again and repaired.

Lieut. Balch's headstone needed a little touch up cleaning and should be set after another rain.

We sprayed his headstone at the beginning of the month and waited on it to clean up some before posting. One more rain and it should really look good.
