If you fail to do what you know is right, you are sinning.
- James 4:17

Such a small statement from scripture, but one that sums up our rebellion against God in such a succinct way.
We know what is right and wrong, so when we try to justify doing what we want, even though we know it is against what God wants for us, we get louder and louder, as if we are trying to convince ourselves that our sinning against God is OK.
Listen folks, your either follow the Lord and His direction in your life or not, that is a choice everyone must make for themselves, however, we have no ground to stand on when the consequences come around for our disobedience to God.
We all sin, which makes doing the right thing hard to do. But with Jesus, we can overcome those sinful desires to do wrong and live lives that are holy and pure, because we are covered by His blood, and that is who God sees now.
I pray you know Him!

You people are not faithful to God! You should know that loving what the world has is the same as hating God. So anyone who wants to be friends with this evil world becomes God’s enemy.
Do you think the Scriptures mean nothing?
The Scriptures say, “The Spirit God made to live in us wants us only for himself.” But the kindness God shows is greater. As the Scripture says, “God is against the proud, but he is kind to the humble.”
- James 4:4-6

Good question!
Do you think the scriptures mean nothing? Well, do you?
We may say, "Well, no, I mean I believe most of it is true, the parts I like and understand, but the other stuff...meh!"
That is a pretty arrogant statement, one that imparts that we haven't submitted to God fully and that we think we can question Him and His motives. We think we have a better grasp of what needs to be done than the CREATOR of the universe.
With that way of approaching God and His Word, we puff ourselves up, putting ourselves on the same playing field as God, and yes, even get prideful in the process.
He is God and we are not! That is what we need to understand and defer to Him for truth and wisdom in the scriptures, not our own sinful desires and understanding.
I choose to follow His decrees and and His commands, because He knows what is best for me and my family.
I pray you know Him!

“I am the shepherd who cares for the sheep. I know my sheep just as the Father knows me. And my sheep know me just as I know the Father. I give my life for these sheep. I have other sheep too. They are not in this flock here. I must lead them also. They will listen to my voice. In the future there will be one flock and one shepherd.
- John 10:14-16

Jesus wasn't just sent to the Jews of the day He when He walked this earth, He is telling us that he has other sheep, others that will be added to the flock and that He would shepherd all of them.
He goes on to tell that He will lay down His life willingly for them, only to take it back up again.
He is the Good Shepherd, the one who loves and cares for His flock, making sure they are lead to God the Father.
We need to stop trying to rebel against Him and do what He says, because He is looking out for us and knows the dangers that lurk out there.

That is the way we should live, because God’s grace has come. That grace can save everyone.
It teaches us not to live against God and not to do the bad things the world wants to do. It teaches us to live on earth now in a wise and right way—a way that shows true devotion to God.
We should live like that while we are waiting for the coming of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our great hope, and he will come with glory.
He gave himself for us.
He died to free us from all evil.
He died to make us pure—people who belong only to him and who always want to do good.
- Titus 2:11-14

It is very hard to expound on this, except to urge everyone to draw closer to the Lord, so we all can live lives that honor Him and what He did for the world on that cross!
I pray you know him, personally, not through an influencer or a talking head, for yourself!

Some of you say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to some city. We will stay there a year, do business, and make money.” Listen, think about this: You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Your life is like a fog. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away. So you should say, “If the Lord wants, we will live and do this or that.” But now you are proud and boast about yourself. All such boasting is wrong. If you fail to do what you know is right, you are sinning.
- James 4:13-17

We can make plans, but we know we aren't garaunteed lunch today, much less next month or next year, so we should make the most of each moment we have and put it in the Lords hands and do His will above all else.
Simply put, do we trust Him or not?
We get so wrapped up in our plans, that we tend to exclude God and set aside the things we were created to do, spread the Gospel, take care of the widows and the orhpans and serve others as we serve the Lord!
Read the Word of God daily, allow it to give you it's wisdom and truth. Do not merely listen, do what it says!

So give yourselves to God. Stand against the devil, and he will run away from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. You are sinners, so clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure.
- James 4:7-8

Jesus said that we can't serve 2 masters, you will hate the one and love the other. So why do we think we can play both sides of the fence when it comes to devoting ourselves to God, while soaking in the evil that is in this world. We need to, "clean out" the sin in our lives and live for Him only, not to please ourselves and our selfish desires that give birth to sin.
Read the scriptures folks! Let them be your guide to wisdom and truth. Once we clean our hearts out of the sin in our lives, we need to maintain it by filling it with the Word of God and keeping the trappings of this world out!
God gives us a way out of sin, I pray we all take it.

Christ entered the Most Holy Place only one time—enough for all time. He entered the Most Holy Place by using his own blood, not the blood of goats or young bulls. He entered there and made us free from sin forever.
- Hebrews 9:12

The sacrifice of bulls and goats wasn't so a persons crop would succeed, or that they would see good health, all of the sacrifices was to atone for their sins, those that they knew about and those they didn't.
Just like the temple where these sacrifices were made was a pale comparison of the real thing in heaven, the sacrifices fell short in making anyone right with God.
Jesus came to shed HIS blood, once and for all time, so our sins would be forgiven forever.
Think about that!
The reason we no longer do these sacrifices, is because Jesus satisfied the debt, paid in full, when He laid down HIS life, when He shed HIS blood, to make us right.
That is how far God will go to bring us back into the right standing we humans had in the beginning, in the Garden.
I pray you know Him!

It is the same with our tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it can boast about doing great things.
A big forest fire can be started with only a little flame. The tongue is like a fire. It is a world of evil among the parts of our body. It spreads its evil through our whole body and starts a fire that influences all of life. It gets this fire from hell.
- James 3:5-6

Ever notice that our mouths can cause all kinds of mischief? It can build others up, or destroy them. It can give good advice or lead people down the wrong path!
What James says here is so true, even applied to the world today, our tongues are like a fire, it starts small, but left unchecked, it spreads its destructive evil through our whole body and starts a fire the influences all of life.
So we need to keep our mouths. our speech, in check, measuring each word before we say it, so we can honor God by what we say.
Remember, the tongue is a very small member of the body, capable of great destruction, when left unattended.
