Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 2 - Nehemiah requests the king that he be sent to Jerusalem and provided with supplies to rebuild the city. On arrival, he inspects the walls at night in secret.
1 Corinthians 15 - The death and resurrection of Christ were foretold in the Old Testament (verses 3-4, the Scriptures of Paul’s day). See Luke 24:25-27, 44. Those in Christ will be raised from the dead at his coming - 15: 22-23.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 4 - When they saw that the Jews were rebuilding the walls, Sanballat and Tobiah and other gentiles conspired to fight against Jerusalem. The Jews organize guards and all the workers keep their weapons handy.
1 Corinthians 16 - After giving some advice on making a contribution to the poor believers at Jerusalem, Paul outlines his plans to visit Corinth at a future time. Paul closes his letter with final words of warning and conveys his love to them.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 5 - Nehemiah rebukes the Jewish nobles and officials who had taken the people’s lands and houses, and taken their children for servants in exchange for giving them food., He commands that they be returned.
2 Corinthians 1 - An example of Paul's problems referred to in verse 8 is recorded in Acts 19:21-41. Paul goes on to explain his delay in visiting Corinth.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 6 - Sanballat and his friends plot to capture Nehemiah or to damage his reputation but don’t succeed, and the walls and gates are finished.
2 Corinthians 2 - In his first letter Paul had given instructions on what to do about a brother who had fallen into a serious sin. He now praises them for their obedience and counsels them to bring him back into their fellowship.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 8 - The people gather together for the feasts of the Jewish seventh month. They hear the book of the Law read by Ezra the priest for seven days and live in booths (the booths symbolized the temporary nature of our lives. See verses 14-17).
2 Corinthians 3 - Paul compares the glory that faded from Moses’ face with the greater and lasting glory that is manifested in the Lord Jesus Christ. He mourns that Israel still looked only at the fading glory of Moses. Those who understand the glory of the Lord Jesus can share in that glory as they grow in faith and grace.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 9 - The people fast and confess their sins. The Levites lead them in a prayer citing the sinful history of the nation and God’s mercy toward them. They renew their covenant with God.
2 Corinthians 4 - Paul suffered many things for the sake of the Gospel. Here he states that none of those sufferings can compare with the glory that is to come at the resurrection. His suffering could not even compare with the joy that he felt at the present time because so many were turning from the darkness of a godless world to the light of salvation in Christ Jesus.
Chapters to Read Today - Nehemiah 13 - Nehemiah returns from visiting with the King in Babylon, and finds the priests and the people have quickly and widely gone astray, including intermarriage with gentiles. He thoroughly rebukes them and corrects the situation.
2 Corinthians 5 - Paul longs for the day when all the weakness of his mortal body will be done away in a glorious, immortal body. Compare this passage with 1 Corinthians 15: 50-54. He brings out that all who have known God and Christ will be judged by Christ
