4. Philippians 1:14 – 24

Paul portrayed a wonderful example of humility when he spoke of some who were preaching the truth – but with wrong motives. These were self-seekers, evidently jealous of Paul, and sought to make his stay in prison even more difficult. Paul was not concerned about Paul but the gospel. No matter the motive, he was elated that Christ was preached even if it did bring harm to him. May his attitude prevail in our hearts!

It’s Gospel Meeting Time!

A lesson stressing the importance of our upcoming gospel meeting with Michael Bates this weekend – June 19 – 21. A look back at the first “gospel meeting” on the birthday of the church as recorded in Acts chapter 2 to help us better appreciate the importance of such as we glorify God, reach out to the lost, and encourage the faithful. We invite you to join us in our meeting!

The Other Thief on the Cross

A follow up lesson to last week’s concerning the thief who did not repent, did not come to the Lord, and died in that condition. Here was a man who: 1) Made the Wrong Choice in Life, 2) Hardened His Heart, and 3) Rebelled to His Doom. We can learn what to do from the one thief – i.e. – come to Jesus, and what not to do from the latter – reject the Lord to the condemnation of our souls. May we make the right choices in life!

14. Judges 5:1 – 11

Judges chapter 5 is the song of Deborah and Barak – a hymn of praise to God for His coming to the aid of His people time and again. Likewise, we today give glory to God by singing “How Great Thou Art,” “Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken,” and other songs extolling the goodness of God lest we forget His manifold blessings.

3. Philippians 1:6 – 13

Paul expresses his love and appreciation for the church at Philippi, and prays for their continued growth in love. He qualifies their growth in love to be with “knowledge” and “discernment.” Love distinguishes right from wrong – there are things the child of God is not to love (1 John 2:15 – 17).
