Life changes. It’s a fact. In recent days we have lost some support for one reason or another. It’s just one more lesson God has for us. However, after sending an email to some dear friends and supporters who recent had to withdraw their support it has been at the forefront of my mind. So much so, at 1:23AM I’m laying here praying. Then it hit me. Share it.
So, here is the email we sent. Names withheld for obvious reasons, but here you go.
Lisa and I wanted to take a moment to simply say thank you.
Dear # # # # # #,
Over the past year, your prayers, encouragement, and financial support have helped make something incredible possible. Because of faithful friends like you, we were able to raise the support needed to enter the mission field, move to Scotland, establish ourselves here, and launch Gathering Place in Inverness.
As we look back, we are overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness.
In just the past year, we have seen 140 people make decisions to follow Christ. We have been investing in and discipling future leaders here in Inverness. The Lord has opened doors for us within the Scottish Prison Service, where we are helping establish Celebrate Recovery and working alongside others to develop support programs for individuals transitioning back into the community after release. Over the past several weeks, we have been building both a worship team and leadership team for Gathering Place. We have also provided more than 200 meals to people in need throughout our community.
Most of this has happened within the last five months, and none of it would have been possible without the faithful support of people like you. You have been part of every life touched, every meal served, every conversation shared, and every person who has found hope in Christ.
Thank you for believing in what God called us to do.
Lisa and I understand firsthand how God leads us into new seasons. We know that you have been seeking His direction for some time, and we are genuinely excited for this new chapter in your lives. Our prayer is that you experience His favor, peace, and joy as you walk forward in obedience to Him.
If we could ask two small favors, both connected to helping us continue the work God has placed before us.
This July, we have committed to an outreach in one of the low-income scheme areas of Inverness. The budget for the outreach is only $500, but we believe it has tremendous potential to reach people who desperately need to know they are loved and valued by God. We are currently seeking one or two sponsors who might help us make that outreach possible.
Secondly, as ministry continues to grow, we have found ourselves once again raising additional support. Would you consider sharing our story with others who may have a heart for missions, church planting, or outreach? Your encouragement and recommendation carry tremendous weight, and an introduction could make all the difference.
Please know there is absolutely no pressure. You have already done so much for us and for the Kingdom. We simply felt it would be irresponsible not to share the opportunity and invite others to be part of what God is doing here in Scotland.
Lord willing, I will be returning to the States in late September through early October to continue raising support, and I would love the opportunity to see you both while I am there.
We love you both and are deeply grateful for your friendship, encouragement, and partnership in the Gospel. Thank you for standing with us. The fruit being produced here in Scotland is fruit that you share in as well.
May God richly bless you and favor you in all that lies ahead.
