Distractions have a way of pulling our attention away from what matters most. In Nehemiah 6:1–16, Nehemiah faces deceit, false accusations, and spiritual manipulation—all intended to stop the work God had called him to do. How do we respond when people complain?

Sunday, we looked at Nehemiah 5 and saw that Nehemiah didn’t ignore the complaints around him—but he also didn’t react carelessly. He listened, thought before responding, confronted the problem, and worked toward a solution.

A good reminder for all of us: we can’t control how everyone else acts, but we can control how we respond.

Complaining is easy—especially when something feels unfair, frustrating, or out of our control. But how we respond to complaints can either deepen division or lead toward healing. In Nehemiah 5, Nehemiah faces conflict from within his own community and shows us what it looks like to address problems with wisdom, humility, and integrity. This week, we’ll discover how to handle the complainers among us without ignoring the problem or allowing it to distract us from what God has called us to do.
