🛠️ BEFORE THERE WAS LABOR DAY...

Before there was a federal holiday, there was work. And there was rest. Both were God’s idea. 🙌

Long before sin entered the world, God gave Adam meaningful work to do. Genesis 2:15 tells us that God placed him in the garden “to work it and take care of it.” Work was not the punishment of the fall. Work was part of God’s good design from the beginning. And so was rest. ❤️

God Himself established the rhythm. He worked six days in creation and rested on the seventh. Not because He was exhausted, but because He was showing us that life was never meant to be an endless cycle of working, producing, accomplishing, and rushing.

So on this Labor Day, September 7, put the laptop down. Leave the to-do list alone for a little while. Spend time with your family. Sit on the porch. Fire up the grill. Take a nap. Laugh. Breathe. Worship. Enjoy the day God has given you. ☀️🌿

And a special shoutout to those whose work often goes unnoticed. The parent working long hours to provide. The caregiver who rarely gets a break. The teacher preparing when no one is watching. The farmer working before sunrise. The volunteer who never gets a paycheck. The employee who quietly gives their best every day. God sees your labor, even when nobody else does. 🙏

📖 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” - Colossians 3:23

Our work is not separate from our faith. When it is offered to God, even ordinary work can become an act of worship.

Work with purpose.
Rest without guilt.
Give God glory in both.

📱 YOUR TEXT COULD CHANGE SOMEONE’S DAY 💛

Someone in your life may need a little encouragement today more than you realize.

Maybe they’re carrying something they haven’t talked about. Maybe they’re tired, discouraged, or simply need to know that someone is thinking about them. A simple text that says, “I’m praying for you,” “I appreciate you,” or “You’ve been on my heart today” could make all the difference. 🙏❤️

God never intended for us to walk through life alone. He places us in community so we can encourage one another, pray for one another, and help carry each other through the difficult days.

📖 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

So here’s a simple challenge for today: Think of one person and send the text. 📲

Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait until later. Just remind someone that they are seen, loved, and not alone.

🔥 DON’T LEAVE YOUR FAITH AT CHURCH

Holiness isn’t a Sunday thing. It’s an everyday thing.

Following Jesus was never meant to be something we turn on when we walk into church and turn off when we walk back out. We are called to reflect Him everywhere we go. 🙌

At work. At school. Online. At home. In the conversations nobody else hears and in the choices nobody else sees.

Holiness shows up in our habits, our attitudes, our relationships, our priorities, and even in the way we treat people when life gets frustrating. ❤️

It’s not about trying to look perfect. It’s about allowing Jesus to shape every part of who we are, one day and one decision at a time.

📖 “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” - 1 Peter 1:15

Church, let’s carry Jesus beyond Sunday morning. Let’s live in a way that points people to Him on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every day after. ✝️

The world needs to see Jesus, and sometimes the first place they’ll see Him is in the way we live. 🧡

🌿 WHEN YOUR HEART WON’T LET YOU REST…

Sometimes anxiety is more than worrying about what might happen tomorrow. Sometimes the unrest we feel points to something deeper within us. Our hearts can become burdened by things we haven’t surrendered, pulled in too many directions, or exhausted from trying to hold together what only God can carry.

But anxiety does not have to control your life. There is freedom when we bring our whole heart to God and learn to trust Him completely. 🙏

Join us this Sunday, August 30th at 8:30 AM at Grace Assembly at Vernon as Rev. Chris Steverson shares a timely message:

🌿 FREEDOM FROM ANXIETY

From the very beginning, fear caused humanity to hide from God. Yet God came looking for Adam, calling him out of hiding and back into His presence.

Maybe you’ve been carrying something you need to give to God. Maybe your heart has been divided between faith and fear, trust and control, or what God wants and what you want. Maybe you’re simply tired of living with the constant weight of “what if?”

There is another way.

God invites us to stop hiding, stop holding back, and place the full weight of our lives in His hands. Peace grows when our hearts become completely His. ❤️

🙌 GOD ISN’T LOOKING FOR PERFECT. HE’S LOOKING FOR WILLING.

Here’s some good news: God doesn’t need a perfect vessel. He just needs a willing one.

The Bible is filled with ordinary, deeply imperfect people who simply said “yes” to God. They had weaknesses. They had failures. They had fears. They didn’t have everything figured out. But when God called, they were willing to follow. ❤️

Moses felt inadequate. David made mistakes. Peter was impulsive. Paul had a past. Yet God used each of them in incredible ways.

Maybe you’ve been thinking you’re not qualified enough, talented enough, strong enough, or “good enough” for God to use you. Remember this: God has never been limited by human weakness. He can do extraordinary things through an ordinary person who is surrendered to Him.

God isn’t searching for perfect vessels. He’s searching for available ones.

The question isn’t, “Am I good enough?”

The question is, “Am I willing to say yes?” 🙏

Whatever God is asking of you today, don’t let your imperfections keep you from your purpose. Be available. Be willing. Say yes. ❤️
