The Eighth Day
______

HE IS RISEN! The stone is cast aside, the grave undone,
Why seek the living with the dead? The work of death is done,
The borrowed tomb stands open wide beneath the rising Son,
Faithful hearts awaken now to what the Lord has won.

The linens lie, the silence breaks, the angel’s question rings,
“Why look for life in death’s domain? He is not here, our risen King,”
No chain could hold, no seal contain, “O death, where is your sting?”
The grave itself was swallowed up beneath His conquering.

He led captivity captive, broke the bars of ancient night,
The keys of hell hang at His side, held in His sovereign might,
The radiance of the Father’s glory now unveiled in light,
Upholding all things by His word, enthroned in highest height.

So lift your voice, O dust and breath, let every tongue concede,
The Lamb once slain now stands alive, the risen, reigning Seed,
From shattered grave to highest throne, all powers bow and plead,
All glory, honor, and praise to Him, HE IS RISEN, INDEED!

Black Saturday
______

I am the end of breath and bone, the silence all men dread,
The conqueror of kings and slaves, no man can hold my stead,
I’ve swallowed thrones, chewed through crowns, on empires I have fed,
And now they bring this would-be King, to join the countless dead.

I watched Him bleed, I drank it in, the crowd, the cry, the fall,
The nails, the thirst, the final gasp, the beauty of it all,
The Son they loved, the Holy One, I crushed with glee and thrall,
Another name, another soul, just numbers on my wall.

They seal the stone, they set their guard, as if I need their might,
Their spears and seals amuse me still, I feast both day and night,
No man escapes my iron claim, no flesh withstands my right,
Every king will bow, every lord will fall, every day turns into night.

Yet something stirs within my depths, a tremor in my keep,
No fear have I of mortal men, no soul I fail to reap,
But this One’s death feels heavier, the darkness feels too deep,
What have I done, what is this Man, I cannot hold His sleep.

Good Friday
______

They crowned Him first with twisted thorns, the mockery of a King,
They struck His face, they robed His shame, iniquity would cling,
The Lamb of God stood silent still, while spiteful voices ring,
He bore the weight of wrath and wood, the curse of venom’s sting.

He took the beam upon His back, through streets that spat His name,
Each step His mercy carved in dust, each breath He bore our shame,
Beneath the burden of our sin, beneath the weight of blame,
The Lamb pressed on to Calvary’s hill, to end this wicked game.

They drove the iron through His flesh, the splintered cross would cry,
Two thieves each side, the crowds below, their malice spewing high,
“Behold your King!” the sign declared, for those who questioned why,
The Lamb of God, now lifted up, rejected, left to die.

Each breath a fight, each moment crushed, His flesh and blood diminished,
The spear then tore His sacred side, his lungs no more replenished,
The Lamb of God bore all the curse, the wrath of God extinguished,
The work is done, the debt is paid, at last, IT IS FINISHED.

Maundy Thursday

We watched the lambs brought in to die, their quiet bodies bound,
Their throats laid bare on temple stones, their blood poured to the ground,
In holy offering, sacrifice, their curdled cries were drowned,
We now recall deliverance, where crimson marks were found.

We took the bread, we raised the cup, as always had been done,
Fourteen hundred years we’ve looked to what I AM had won,
Our fathers marked their doorposts red, passed over for the son,
We feasted on the spotless life, yet missed the Promised One.

He knelt to wash our filthy feet, our arrogance then ceased,
He prayed that we be kept as one, in Him our great High Priest,
He sang the psalms, the Hallel rose, His blessing perfect yeast,
“Love one another, as I loved you…” the Greatest for the least.

We followed Him to Olivet, where sorrow pressed Him low,
He begged the cup might pass from Him, yet bowed to drink its woe,
The serpent struck with softened lips, a kiss of death for show,
The Lamb of God abandoned now, Friday soon will crow.

Silent Wednesday
______

I pace alone within the dark, where hidden things can breathe,
No blinding light, no judging gaze, just shadows watch me seethe,
In quiet black, my heart matured, and slowly learned to teethe,
Ambitions festered long enough, the mask I now will sheathe.

Three years I gave to wandering roads, to folly cloaked in grace,
With harlots, dogs, and desperate men, a most disgusting place,
That Fool performed His little signs, His show for their embrace,
While power slipped through open hands, a kingdom left to waste.

He could have ruled, the crowds were there, the moment in His hand,
But mercy dulled what might have been a throne, a sword, command,
A Waste to kneel before the weak instead of take the land,
Yet men of strength and order rise, to grasp what times demand.

Now I stand with silver weighed, among the strong and wise,
The price of slaves, yet still it gleams, before my very eyes,
At last I’m free from squandered years, no more this foolish guise,
Now coin and conquer set me free, oh rid me of these lies.

Fig Tuesday
______

I clothed myself in splendor, every branch alive,
A canopy of majesty, for all the world to prize,
Yet deep beneath my bark and bough, no hidden produce thrive,
All leaf and show, and all will know, my barren shoots deprive.

I felt Him drawing near me, my own Creator’s gaze,
Not seeking shade or spectacle or even outward praise,
But fruit to meet His hunger, to fuel His draining days,
I stood with none, fruitless, done. Just lies, my leaf betrays.

Then truth broke in like thunder, I was the very sign,
Of hearts cloaked in covenant yet hated fruit and Vine,
Of leaves that mimicked breath of life but never tasted Wine,
Cut off from Life, land, and might, yet claiming heir divine.

So let me gladly wither, with His cold curse on me,
God shapes His trees for glory, hallowed leaves for Thee,
For soon another timber will His Son receive,
Good Friday comes, and holy blood will crown that weeping Tree.

Holy Monday
______

From dawn He walks the courts again, where ancient echoes ring,
The House once filled with holy prayer now wh**es for lesser things,
Coins clatter loud where mercy stood, corruption fills its wings,
The Priest arrives to cleanse the courts, our True and Mighty King.

He sees the rot within the walls, the sickness deeply grown,
Not surface stain, but inward plague, in marrow, wood, and stone,
What once was holy, set apart, now wails perverted tones,
No patch will hold, this house must fall, it must be overthrown.

The cords are tight, the whip is raised, all hesitation drowned,
The tables crash, the silver spills, false worship eats the ground,
The cash cow goy stand helplessly, their lenders have been bound,
The courts are empty, yet rife with dross, infection still is found.

The Prophet speaks, the Priest now acts, the King will soon offend,
No stone will stand, no wall remain, the system cannot mend,
For death must come to cleanse it all, where rot and foul descend,
Upon this hill, a holy wrath will bring about the end.

The Temple proves that cleansing comes when blood is rightly shed,
Not coins, not fees, but sacrifice, the living for the dead,
The Lamb of God steps closer now, across our sin He tread,
The Cross looms near. Death awaits. Friday soaked in red.

Palm Sunday
______

From time before, He set His course, God’s chosen Lamb to die,
He rides the road to Jerusalem, beneath a troubled sky,
The city swells, the voices rise, the palms are lifted high,
They shout “Hosanna!” …ignorant of why.

He enters in, the Lamb of God, while serpents coil inside,
Their hisses echo perverted power, their venom drips with pride,
The crowd cries “King!” His loved ones watch, confused and terrified,
As death and mercy begin to collide.

He carries on, no turning back, though the cost is clear,
No cross yet raised, no blood yet spilled, but Friday is drawing near,
The Lamb steps forward, willingly, no hesitation, no fear,
To meet the fangs that await Him there.

The cheers will fade, the sky will black, the serpent strike will reign,
His blood will fall, His flesh will part, His mercy born through pain,
The Lamb goes on, though all seems lost, redemption’s golden chain,
Good Friday is coming, and the Lamb will be slain.

09/13/2025

If you are the head of a home, and your anger over this past week doesn’t lead you to church tomorrow morning, your heart is in serious danger - and your family will suffer greatly.

The root of bitterness is seeking to consume you and render you useless.

You are not alone.

Place your anger in the hands of God, and if your heart is willing, He will wield you as a mighty weapon that will slice through Hell.

Not all churches are weak. Not all churches are gay.

Don’t be pessimistic. Be prepared. Be courageous. Act like men.

“The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church.”

If you’re ready to stand with men who honor Christ above all, you are welcome at Veribest Baptist Church.

Deus Vult,
– Pastor David
