FIRE FRAUD WARNING: According to the Creighton Police Department, scammers are already attempting to take advantage of Tuesday’s devastating downtown fire.

Authorities are warning the public to be cautious when donating money or offering assistance. Residents should only donate to reputable organizations or individuals they personally know and can verify.

Police said a person identifying themselves as “Shannon Marcus” has been calling individuals in the area claiming to be a victim of the Creighton fire and requesting financial assistance. Creighton police said there are no known victims from the fire by that name.

The phone number reportedly being used is 402-860-6735.

Anyone receiving suspicious calls related to the fire is encouraged to remain cautious and report concerns to local law enforcement.
