We are raising money to purchase warm clean blankets to bless women who live in Independent Living Homes. Often times these women come to these homes off the streets and do not have ample bedding supplies.

Let us meditate upon the word DAY AND NIGHT.
Daily Devotion Tuesday January 28, 2020

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

Thoughts on today’s word: When we praise our heavenly Father and glorify His holy name, the focus of our attention is removed from our own, limited life and petty predicaments. It gives balance to all we say and do.

God Himself knows the immense benefits that we enjoy, when we turn our eyes away from ourselves onto the Lord Jesus, and look full into His wonderful face - which is why Paul reminds us, in first Thessalonians, to rejoice evermore; to pray without ceasing and in everything to give thanks to the Lord, for this is God's will for us.

When we turn the attention of our inner heart onto Christ - the Author and Finisher of our faith; the Sustainer of our life and our Blessed Hope, the circumstances of life and matters of living, fall into their correct perspective. When the inner focus of our heart and soul, and mind is on the Lord Jesus, there is no room for a self-centered attitude of mind, or the petty preening of our own individual wants.

The Lord is worthy of our ongoing worship and devoted praise. He deserves our grateful thanksgiving and whole-hearted trust in every area of our life. And when He is the centre of our lives, we look to HIM, and HIS power and abilities rather than our own, inabilities knowing that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our dependent reliance upon HIM.

If it is our desire to bless the Lord at all times, and under all circumstances, our heart needs to be right before the Lord.

Prayer of agreement: Eternal God and Creator of all, there are so many things our finite minds cannot understand. In this life, there is no human being capable of completely grasping Your essence. Our mere words cannot describe your greatness. But one thing we know is, there is nothing that is impossible with You. So when all else fails in life, we have to trust Your plan. You had our lives already planned out for us before we were born. So even before anything goes astray, putting our faith in You is a great way to get the assurance we need to press onward. There's so much we don't know about how our lives are going to turn out, but God you know everything. You will guide us forward on our journeys in life if we have faith in you. It is our desire to Bless You at all times and our praise will be continually be in our mouths no matter what life holds for us. This we pray in Jesus name Amen.

“Inappropriate Alliances”

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?

Thoughts on today’s word:
Paul had to admonish Christians in various churches for their ungodly ways and from distancing themselves from the important issues of Christian conduct, which are necessary for godly living and effective ministry.

In the Corinthian church it was a lack of love and a cooling of affection towards Paul himself, that he identified. Indeed he was quick to point out that the main reason for their lack of warmth towards him was because of their close, 'chummy' and incongruous association with unbelievers.

Paul recognized that the divided loyalties of these believers was negatively impacting their close Christian communion, causing a serious spiritual disconnection between them. And so Paul warned of the dangers this behaviour had on their spiritual growth. And this is the inevitable outcome for any believer who gets bound-up in close, un-sanctified, worldly friendships - or becomes emotionally enmeshed with inappropriate alliances.

Like many of Paul's instructions this is not a law that is to be strictly imposed on believers but a general principle that each of us needs to apply to our own life - or to be given as wise, biblical counsel to those who may have become embroiled in an unwise alliance.

He is encouraging wise personal judgment when choosing and maintaining special relationships in our lives, and certainly not imposing any legalistic command that must be followed rigidly. But we all need to look at our own lives and consider the friendship choices that we have made or are considering and to base our choice on wisdom from the Word of God and the godly counsel of spiritual Christians.

Prayer of agreement:
Heavenly Father, as I look forward to the coming New Year, I thank you for your word that reminds me how to walk in line with my relationships. My relationships should line up with your word. Thank you for the wise counsel from The Apostle Paul. Help me to choose my friends and acquaintances wisely. Direct me I pray in the choices I make with regard to the close, personal relationships that I choose to engage in and may all I say and do be to Your edification. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

Blessings to all - Happy Holy Days
Acts 2:32-36
“This prophecy was speaking of Jesus, whom God raised from the dead, and we all are witnesses of this. Now He sits on the throne of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as He had promised, gave Him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit in honor at My right hand until I humble Your enemies, making them a footstool under Your feet.”’ So let it be clearly known by everyone in Israel that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified to be both Lord and Messiah!”

A Prayer At Christmas
Thank You Father that Your times and seasons are pre-ordained and that in the fullness of time You sent Your only begotten Son to be born of a woman, so that at the appointed hour He could be made sin for our sins - and in so doing become the propitiation for the sins of all mankind.
Thank You that in the eternal council chambers of the almighty Godhead You devised a perfect plan that would save mankind from eternal separation from You, and which required that the eternal Son of the Father became flesh and was conceived and born of a virgin.

Lord, we rejoice at the Christmas story and all the wondrous glory that we see unfolded in the manger scene in the little town of Bethlehem.. and in the fields, while shepherds watched their flocks by night. We glory at the good news of great joy that was proclaimed by the angel of the Lord, and we are amazed to behold a heavenly choir of angelic beings singing,"glory to God in the highest".

We praise Your name for the visit of the wise men from the east and we grieve at the satanic atrocity that was perpetrated by king Herod, on innocent children..but most of all we humbly kneel before Your throne of grace when we understand that the baby lying in a manger must one day be crucified to the cruel cross so that my sins could be forgiven.. Father thank You for sending Jesus to be born so that He could die for my sins.. in His name I pray, Amen

"The New Jerusalem"
Revelation 22:1-2 (From Revelation Commentary)
“And he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit; yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

Summary: Living water has benefits for those that drink it. It quenches thirst. Coming from the throne of God and the Lamb = is the source of the living water. This water supply is supernaturally supplied, which ensures the eternal or continuing nature of not only the supply of water, but the quality as well.

In the middle of its street = at first glance might appear contradictory to the previous idea that the city is a cube. Street is singular, giving the impression that the city has only one street. However, while John does give some information about the city, we certainly must entertain the notion that there is much to the city that he did not communicate. The text does not say "in the middle of its only street." Given the size of the city, there must be many streets.

And on either side of the river was the tree of life = indicates more than one "tree of life." Since Jesus Christ’s death on the cross is the only means of salvation from sin, "the tree of life" does not grant to those who eat from it eternal life.

Since the only people allowed in the New Jerusalem are those who already have eternal life, "the water of life" and "the tree of life" are not sources of eternal life for "those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life." Water and fruit contribute to the quality of life. The river and the tree will contribute to the quality one existence in the eternal city.
Bearing twelve kinds of fruit = indicates miraculous production.

Yielding its fruit every month = continues the miraculous production of the trees of life. Thought may be that the trees bear a different fruit for each month of the year. Since time will not be indicted by the sun (Rev 22:5) during the eternal kingdom of God, perhaps the trees will indicate the months of the year.

The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations = echoes Adam’s attempt to cover himself, but failed to remove the curse.

Prayer: Almighty and Everlasting God, thank you for the Living Water in Whom are the words of eternal life, and Who satisfies the thirsty. Thank You that You sent the Lord Jesus to be born into the human race so that by faith in Him, we may be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Your dear Son. Thank You for revealing Your plans and purposes through the holy Scriptures, and for purposing that the eternal Son should be born as the perfect Man - to die and rise again for my sake. As I watch for the any day return of Jesus, keep me focused on You, so that I may live and work to Your praise and glory, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Give to the Needy! ...

Give to the Needy!

James 2:15-16
“If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?”

Thoughts on Today’s Verse:
We have opportunities every day to meet the needs of people we work for and among. It can be as simple as making sure a confused customer finds the right item for their need or noticing that a new co-worker needs help but is afraid to ask. James urges us to take special concern for those who are vulnerable or marginalized, and we may need to practice notic¬ing who these people are in every area of our lives.

Let us pray: Eternal God of all humankind. We thank you once again for another day of life. We pray that you will have mercy on us as we are all sinners saved by grace. We come humbly before your throne thanking you for the Living Word in the book of James that tells us it is all very well telling someone you will pray for them, but if you have the ability to help them here and now, to provide whatever it is they need, then why not do that as well? God talk without God acts is outrageous. Words without actions are useless. We need to practice what we preach and demonstrate by our lives and how we live them that we are Christians. Thank you Father God that we need to show your love to others by the things that we do. Faith without works is dead! We pray these things in the name of your son Jesus, Amen.

Let us be obedient to God's word. ...

Let us be obedient to God's word.

Jeremiah 7:23
"But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.'

Thoughts on today’s word: This thing commanded I them - Obey my voice - It was not sacrifices and oblations which I required of your fathers in the wilderness, but obedience; it was to walk in that way of righteousness which I have commanded; then I should have acknowledged them for my people, and I should have been their God, and then it would have been well with them.

But to my commands, They hearkened not - paid no regard to my word. They inclined not the ear - showed no disposition to attend to my counsels. They walked in the imaginations of their evil heart - followed its irregular and impure motions, rather than the holy dictates of my Spirit. They went backward and not forward. Instead of becoming more wise, obedient, and holy, they grew more corrupt; so that they became more profligate than their fathers.

Prayer of agreement: Father God of mercy and grace, I bow down to you and humble myself before you. I come to You with sincere gratitude for everything You have blessed me with. I don’t tell You enough how thankful I am. Father, soften my heart and grow me closer to You as I place my life in your hands. Lord, I want to be obedient. Show me Your ways. Bind the devil from tempting me to do things on my own. When he does, though, I want to be ready to resist him! Give me the will to stand tall and accept Your will for me and not my own. I love You, Lord! Thank You for being patient with me in my times of not being obedient to your commands. Lord, you made it clear that if I walk in obedience, I will live a full life with you. Being obedient will cause an overflow of abundant blessings within my life. “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” In Jesus name I pray Amen.

What do you wish to Harvest?

GALATIANS 6:7-8
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

Thoughts on today’s word: This is a principle that is also taught in other places in the scriptures. Job 4:8 tells us, “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.” We read in Hosea 8:7, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind…”
Although this is a general principle that applies to saved and unsaved alike, the Apostle Paul is writing directly to believers here. Even for those who know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, we are warned that we reap what we sow.

Of course, to sow means to plant; and to reap means to harvest. Whatever it is we plant, we shall harvest in like manner. It includes the time we give to the Lord’s work. It includes the monetary sacrifices we make to continue the Lord’s work. If we sow good seed, we will reap good results. If we sow according to the lusts of our own flesh, we will reap corruption. May we all be fully aware that God is not mocked. We cannot fool the Lord about our actions or intentions. God knows our heart and will reward us accordingly.

Prayer of agreement: Father God, You said that You would not have us to be ignorant of Your Word. Help us to get a revelation that Your Word is a Seed and when planted will bring forth a harvest - a harvest of Health, Prosperity, Peace and Joy. Lord, help us to understand that the thoughts that Satan puts into our minds are also seeds and they to will bring forth a harvest - a harvest of sickness, fear, poverty, depression. Father, I pray that You will help us to see more see more clearly that we cannot continue to take Satan’s lies and confess them for we will reap what we sow; to know that “Reaping and Sowing” is both a Spiritual Law and a Universal Law and we will have what we say. In Jesus name, Amen.
