Explanation of our Charism, Spirituality and Purpose

The charism and spirituality of the Order of the Knights of Saint Michael is the same for lay people (single/married/widowed/divorced) and those who are called to become brothers/ sisters/ deacons/ priests. To be aware of and understand the charism, spirituality and purpose is a gift given by the Holy Spirit. Michael the Archangel is an

Order of Religious Life for men and women which is committed to bringing to fruition Jesus’ prayer for unity at the Last Supper with the intercession and assistance of our patron Saint Michael the Archangel:

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17: 20-23)

Jesus’ prayer for unity is fulfilled in the Paschal Mystery. We are called to live in unity with the Blessed Trinity as reflected in the Holy Family. Our spirituality is to live the Family Life of the Blessed Trinity as reflected in the Holy Family. Our spirituality is manifested through a united common life, in the Paschal Mystery as it is celebrated in each Eucharistic Liturgy. We offer to our Eternal Father, through the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary, the Just Heart of Joseph, and the intercession of Saint Michael, in the Holy Spirit, the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ; from the moment of His conception and embracing the totality of His entire existence; in union with each Eucharistic Liturgy celebrated throughout the world, throughout all time; in atonement for our sins and the sins of the world to bring peace and justice to the whole world. We offer ourselves, the totality of each person and all creation, with Jesus in union with the Eucharistic Liturgy. This united offering makes our common life meritorious, redemptive and infinite in value. Like Jesus, we become a “living prayer of unity”: a Saint. Our purpose. In the Lay Servant’s and Handmaid’s “way of life,” we are sent forth to bring to fruition Jesus’ prayer for unity at the Last Supper (John 17: 20-23). The unity of God’s family is brought about through the Paschal Mystery in the Evangelical Anglican Church of America. Much of our apostolic labor/ministry will be directed towards building up the parish family based on the following:
We live and share our charism and spirituality so as to bring about the renewal of the person: to help each one become a Saint. The family is the heart and cell of society and of the Church. The family unit is best served through the parish family. Each person is called to live in union with God, united with Jesus in His Life-offering to the Father, in the Holy Spirit
Jesus’ Way of Life was one of private and community prayer; fasting and penance; spreading the Good News through catechesis and evangelization; helping those in need (through healing the sick, forgiving the sinner, banishing the evil spirits and raising people from spiritual death); carrying His Cross; and forgiving with Unconditional Love and Mercy, so that through His redemptive suffering all could be saved. United with Jesus, in His Way of Life and offering, we then are empowered to keep the Commandments; live the Beatitudes; and to love and forgive as Jesus has loved and forgiven us by and with Saint Michael’s intercession and practicing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Jesus’ prayer for unity, flows from the Love of the Holy Spirit and has the power to change hearts bringing about repentance, forgiveness, and healing, therefore, building up the Kingdom of God

Extreme Unction

Strengthening Body and Soul Holistically of the Siick, Getiatric (80 years old and above) and Dying

It also known as the Anointing of the Sick, is a powerful sacrament through which the grace of God strengthens both the body and soul of the one who is ill or near death. As the Bible says in the Douay-Rheims version, 'Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man, and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.' (James 5:14-15).

Saint Thomas Aquinas teaches that this sacrament is given not only for physical healing but also for spiritual consolation, to help the recipient bear their suffering with Christ. In times of sickness and near death, it is a reminder that God, in His mercy, offers us healing both in body and soul, ensuring that our loved ones are assured of His grace and peace, preparing them for the eternal life that awaits. As the Church ministers to our family members in their most vulnerable moments, we are reminded of Christ's healing presence and the ultimate hope of salvation."

— Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Doctor of the Church, emphasizes that the sacrament of Extreme Unction grants peace and strength to the soul, enabling the sick to face death with the hope of eternal life.

For thousands of years, Western Civilization was assaulted by the Vandals, Goths, Turks, Arabs, Vikings, Huns, and Mongols. A certain type of man- capable and willing to do certain things- was required in order to save the West again and again. But in the last 200 years, the culture of the West has come to vilify the sort of man which made the existence and survival of the West itself possible. This is self-loathing to the point of su***de disguised as concern for mercy and pity. This self-loathing, this will to die, is symptomatic of a lack of conviction, meaning, and purpose. Those who would punish the innocent by refusing to punish the guilty violate justice. When men would allow their women and children to be victimized for the sake of being "tolerant" and "understanding" to those who would destroy them, this is a spiritual impotence and a sickness of the soul which contradict the fundamental laws of nature itself.

Today's Mass establishes the titles for Christ's royalty over men:
1) Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; "All things were created by Him";
2) Christ is our Redeemer, He purchased us by His precious Blood, and made us His property and possession;
3) Christ is Head of the Church, "holding in all things the primacy";
4) God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His special possession and dominion.

Today's Mass also describes the qualities of Christ's kingdom. This kingdom is:
1) supreme, extending not only to all people but also to their princes and kings;
2) universal, extending to all nations and to all places;
3) eternal, for "The Lord shall sit a King forever";
4) spiritual, Christ's "kingdom is not of this world."
