We’re excited to welcome families to learn more about Chipmunks, a program for children ages 4–5 filled with creativity, movement, adventure, friendship, problem-solving and plenty of opportunities to explore. 🐿️

This past Sunday, we were treated to a beautiful musical offering from Grace Dashnaw, cello, and Dr. Daniel Newman-Lessler, piano, performing Praise to the Eternity of Jesus from Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.

Before they played, Daniel shared some of the remarkable history behind the piece. Messiaen composed Quartet for the End of Time while imprisoned in a German prisoner-of-war camp during World War II. Inspired by the Book of Revelation, the work reflects on eternity, faith, and hope.

There is something especially powerful about hearing music born from such a dark moment in history and realizing that what came out of it was not despair, but beauty.
