Friendship in Heaven! Yes!
Friendship in this life can be disappointing at times. I believer true friendship was part of what God made us to have, and is also part of His heart to us, He is our Lord yes, but also a friend that will never “unfriend” us, will be loyal forever.
Pr 18:24 NLT “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.”
When we make mistakes, go astray he corrects, does not hold back and sometimes “wounds” our pride and our ways to set us on the right track again, instead of abandoning us. (Pr 27:6)

In the USA a survey says a person has 1 to 4 friends. Some have only acquaintances. But I believe we were made for friendships, united in heart and committed to each other’s welfare, no matter what comes.

What about friendship in heaven? I believe it’s clear that we’ll know and recognize our loved ones and friends in Heaven.
But how many people have we met in our lives that somehow impacted us but never we were never able to build a friendship with, maybe because we lost track of them or distance. But how many people—including people whose names we never knew—said or did something that impacted us profoundly?
I believe when we get to heaven, we will discover friendship in ways we always longed for. There will be no judgmental attitudes, cliques, exclusiveness, posturing, belittling, or jealousy. But there will be a many that we will discover a deeper bond with and have all eternity to make deeper relationships.

St. Augustine said: “All of us who enjoy God are also enjoying each other in Him.”

Randy Alcorn wrote, commenting on the word of that “Prince of Preachers” C.S. Spurgeon talking about friendships in heaven:
“Perhaps you’re disappointed that you’ve never had the friendships you long for. In Heaven you’ll have much closer relationships with some people you now know, but it’s also true that you may never have met the closest friends you’ll ever have. Just as someone may be fifty years old before meeting her best friend, you may live on the New Earth enjoying many friendships before meeting someone who will become your dearest friend. Maybe your best friend will be someone sitting next to you at the first great feast. After all, the sovereign God who orchestrates friendships will be in charge of the seating arrangements.
On the New Earth we’ll experience the joy of familiarity in old relationships and the joy of discovery in new ones. As we get to know each other better, we’ll get to know God better. As we find joy in each other, we’ll find joy in Him. No human relationships will overshadow our relationship with God. All will serve to enhance it.” (from We Shall See God)

What a verse! Many try to water it down, but the truth still stands so strong. It is true that we need to consider the words;” everything” and “good” but the bottom like is God loves us and cares for us and as the TPT translation says,: 'So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good”

V. McGee talks of how R. A. Torrey the great revivalist was comforted by this verse: He “was a great man of God, greatly abused and misunderstood. He knew the meaning of this verse, and he called it a soft pillow for a tired heart. Many of us have pillowed our heads on Romans 8:28. We know the whole creation is groaning, but we also know something else: all things are working together for good—even the groanings ” (1)

Here is a great story from one of my devotional books "From This Verse":
“This was the truth that sustained Barnard Gilpin when he was in deep political danger. Gilpin was called the “Apostle of the North” due to his powerful ministry in the north of England during the sixteenth century. He dearly loved Romans 8:28, and became famous for quoting it on all occasions. But when Bloody Queen Mary ascended the throne, his life was in danger. He was summoned to London to be tried and executed, but along the way he broke his leg. Some mockingly asked him if he imagined that his accident would work out for his good. “Yes,” he said, “all things.”
And it did work out for his good. His journey was delayed while he recovered at an inn, and before he reached London and its ominous prison and its cruel stake, word came that Queen Mary had died. He returned home to Houghton-le-Spring and labored for the Lord for another quarter of a century.
“From threatening clouds we get refreshing showers,” said Charles Spurgeon. “In dark mines are found bright jewels; and so from our worst troubles come our best blessings.”

Preparing a bible study today on “Discernment”. Such a need in this day! Many can discern what is wrong and clearly right but today’s need is so accurately stated by that “Prince of Preachers” Spurgeon, 130 years ago, in this quote in the graphics I added. Derek Price used to say to us: “What is more dangerous: a bottle labeled “Poison! Beware!” or a Coca cola bottle 99% Coca cola with 1% deadly poison?” Both are deadly! Let us pray for believers and especially those in leadership to pray and seek God for spiritual discernment as never before!
Phil 1:9,10 NKJ And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

The Whiteskin Cries April 18
Bob and Carolyn Thomas, friends of mine who served in Papua New Guinea, once sent me this letter with Ecclesiastes 7:2 printed across the top:
It was Sunday morning in the village. I started a fire in the fireplace while Carolyn fixed cheese omelets. As soon as I finished breakfast, Found this story in some old notes today, it touched my heart so I share it. About missionaries in New Guinea. Such stories will be shared in the Coming Kingdom one day around the Throne!

I turned on our shortwave and picked up the Kentucky Derby on a U.S. station. It was exciting to hear, but afterwards I was flooded with homesick memories of our springtime family ritual of watching the Derby together. I was surprised when the tears came.
Looking back, I realize the Lord was preparing my heart for another sorrow. A village leader had just died. I planned to spend Sunday on the mountain where my village friends were mourning, so I hiked to the top of the mountain and joined my adopted village brothers. In this area of New Guinea, people kick the bamboo-woven walls off the house of someone who dies. It is a release for their enormous grief. The walls of this dead man’s house had already been kicked off and nailed back three times.
I felt so sorry for them. I thought again how I missed my family back home. I couldn’t hold them back, so a few tears trickled down. Then I heard whispers through the crowd, “Lala siacma” (“The Whiteskin cries!”). Suddenly two men leapt on top of me, knocking my glasses off. They held me tightly and the whole crowd wailed.
Afterwards they told me they didn’t think Whiteskins cried. In their culture, if someone is sad and only cries a little, they jump on him to help the mourner cry hard and get it all out. They say it is no good if the sorrow stays inside you and kills you. I thought, “Wow, they are wiser than we are about mourning.”
So the story went out over the mountains that the Whiteskins really love us, they share our deep sorrow.
It was good to be in the house of mourning. *

Great story about a Chinese "Jonah". Read, you will be blessed!!!

We remember Jonah mainly as whale bait, forgetting he became one of the greatest itinerant preachers in history, converting a huge city with an eight-word sermon.
Today his example inspires another Jonah, a man in China, who risks life and liberty traveling around with a knapsack of Bibles. As Jonah preaches, he often takes his text from Jonah 3:4, telling audiences they are like the Ninevites: “You live in defiance of the true God who will judge you if you don’t repent.”
On a recent weekend, Jonah found himself wedged in a crowded third-class railway carriage. By and by, a soldier leaned over and said, “Old man, tell us why you seem so happy.”
Jonah replied, “What do you think? What would be the happiest thing that could ever happen to you?”
The man next to Jonah replied, “I want to be loved by a beautiful woman.” A lady said, “A big house would make me the happiest person in the world.” Another said, “A passport to America.” The soldier said, “If I had the power to command the People’s Liberation Army, I’d be happy.”
“Let me see, now,” said Jonah. “I have a mansion so large an emperor would envy; I am loved by the most beautiful person in the world; I have freedom to go wherever I wish; and I happen to be a close friend of the most powerful man on earth. In fact, I have received all this from one person; His name is Jesus Christ.”
As the train jostled across Communist China, Jonah pulled out an old Bible and spent the next 20 hours giving his listeners an all-night seminar about the Christian faith.
Disembarking the train, he bicycled another five hours, dodging authorities who had been tipped off by an informant on the train. All in all that weekend, Jonah traveled 40 hours on trains, 9 hours on buses, 9 hours peddling a bicycle; he led 50 people to Christ—all at age 73.

Your Story Told Right…. That is one chapter in my favorite book right now “All Things New”
“We know our every sin is forgiven; we know we live under mercy. We know there is no condemnation now for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1). No condemnation, ever. We will be cloaked in righteousness, and it will emanate from our very being. So if we can remove all fear of exposure from our hearts, if we can set this safely within the context of our Father’s love, it helps us toward a great, great moment in the kingdom: the time for every story to be told rightly.

But friends—that vindication is also yours. You probably have a number of stories you would love to have told rightly—to have your actions explained and defended by Jesus. I know I do. I think we will be surprised by what Jesus noticed. The “sheep” certainly are when their story is told: “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?” (Matthew 25:37). What a lovely surprise—all our choices great and small have been seen, and each act will be rewarded. All those decisions your family misinterpreted and the accusations you bore, the many ways you paid for it. The thousands of unseen choices to overlook a cutting remark, a failure, to be kind to that friend who failed you again. The things that you wish you had personally done better, but at the time no one knew what you were laboring under—the warfare, the depression, the chronic fatigue. The millions of ways you have been missed and terribly misunderstood. Your Defender will make it all perfectly clear; you will be vindicated.

When a favorite sport team wins, there is a celebration in the whole city! I know as I lived in Liverpool that has 2 major teams and when one wins a big game, the city was ablaze with it. When an international sport team wins, like in Skiing, the whole county talks about it. Or a famous person gets married or like Prince Charles becoming king… lots of bands and excitement! But what makes heaven stout and get excited? Jesus said Luke 15:7 TPT: “In the same way, there will be a glorious celebration in heaven over the rescue of one lost sinner who repents, comes back home, and returns to the fold…”
Note that joy is over any lost sheep who come home, not just the rich, notable ones. Heaven’s joy is over every lost sinner who repents and comes home! Everyone is not only gloriously welcomed but rejoiced over! Even the angels seemed to get involved as this translation paraphrase it in v.10: “That’s the way God responds every time one lost sinner repents and turns to him. He says to all his angels, ‘Let’s have a joyous celebration, for the one who was lost, I have found!’ ”
Those who in this life never had never celebrated over need to know that they get glorious welcoming standing ovation when they, by grace (not self-effort or works) come home!
Is that you? Have you come home…Heaven is waiting to celebrate that homecoming!

We have a flock of sheep that wanders our subdivision with no one watching over them (a shepherd). It got especially exciting when the whole flock was suddenly right outside our door. The dogs got so excited, sheep inches away! I hope no one complains about them here as I love to watch them. And I have observed some lessons that we can learn for the church.
1.) Sheep without a shepherd wander all over the place! They are faster than I imagined, I see them feeding out the window and minutes later they see a “better” place and they are gone. This can lead to them ending up in some bad places, like the roads/ditches here. Shepherds (read: pastors/leaders) are to lead the sheep wisely to good/safe pastures. Sheep can run off at every new idea, teaching. (see 1 Tim 4:1) A loving shepherd leads, protects and teaches sound doctrine.
2.) As I watch, there is one sheep that likes to push others around. I see him chase weaker ones sometimes so far from the flock I was worried they would get lost. The sad testimony is that many have been chased out of our “flock” at times. Paul, John and even Peter constantly warned of this, pleading to love (yes correct at times, but with love) and to realize we are many different personalities in our “flock”.
1 Cor 17:11 AMPC “For in the first place, when you assemble as a congregation, I hear that there are cliques (divisions and factions) among you; and I in part believe it” I smile at his: “some extent I believe it” (NLT). Why, because sheep without a good Shepherd/overseer can easily turn cliquish. That is why Peter reminds us: 1 Pet 4:8 AMPC: “Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].”
Well, back to watching our sheep…
